"LOST"
by the new tv show "LOST" is absolutely essential tv watching. i watch NO tv, but THIS is a QUALITY show. i admonish all to watch it. the two hour pilot was clipped into two pieces over the last two wednesdays. luckily, they're replaying the whole pilot, combined, this saturday.
this show's got awesome action, the effects are movie-like, the acting is KEY and all the performances are spot on, the characters are COMPLETELY unpredictable. one of the coolest aspects is that theres like 50 survivors in the group so they'll be a revolving door of interesting characters and personalities. J.J. Abrams, the mastermind behind Alias, is in creative control of the series and thats definitely a good thing.
the thing that hooked me is that this isn't a normal "plane crash survivors stranded on a tropical island" dealy. you don't know why the plane went down, you don't know where they are, you don't know who's going to be dangerous and who's going to be helpful. there are some REALLY mysterious scifi undertones that will make for some HUGE revelations later in the season and series.
color me extremely excited. i'm having a viewing at my joint on saturday. YESSS!

anyway, get ahold of the first season. everyone knows someone who's got it, so you could probably borrow it. or you can cop it on amazon for like 40 bucks. anywhichway, watch it. then watch the second season when THOSE dvds hit. but if you're feeling tough you'll go by way of the torrents and get all caught up ASAP, y'know, so you can chat with us.
it's a good show. it's certainly got a unique format. the mysteries and pacing will absolutely scald your freaking mind. some people can't get into it, BUT i DO think you'll like it.
Tonight we find out what happened to the Tail-end of the plane!!! YAY!
the story makes total sense now. why the tail enders are so high strung. why echo whupped sawyer, jin and mike with the stick. it kinda makes the others seem a little less evil, more human, but still very dangerous. i think we might find out where they come from and what they want this season. haha.

i always geek out about directors and stuff like that and everyone just shrugs and hits the back button, BUT CHECK THIS OUT! Darren Aranofsky is gonna direct an episode of LOST. he did the black math thriller Pi and the arty fly-on-the-wall drug study film Requiem For A Dream. he is TOP talent. VERY visual and VERY unique. i am positive his episode will look and feel different from other episodes. i wouldn't even doubt it has a lot to do with dreams or some sort of altered perspective psychedelia. maybe Locke will use that hallucinogen guava gel he applied to Boone's head wound. Anyway, it'll be a total treat. WATCH the credits for that name. Darren Aronofksy.

However, I knew from spoilers that a female was going to die, at the hands of another female. And the speculation was that it was going to be Shannon

this show reeeaaally messed with the noodle i was thinking that Sawyer was gonna bite it. i thought maybe that the shannon/jack connection would be played out, and for that to happen shannon needs to be, well, alive. so, i was like--"ok, sawyers out. that sucks. shannon's safe. whatever." and i was sure, because the special "someones gonna die" piano music played when Sawyer passed out. but when i saw that shannon got capped, i thought,"it's the others or the french lady that shot shannon." but when they showed ANNA i was like, "whatttttttttttttttttt." ok, did anyone see sayid's face? it is SO on. but alas! we must wait til the story of the TAIL END is told. and i'm VERY excited about that. just when i was starting to feel overwhelmed and at the same time bored with the show--they throw in some really neat stuff. i'm still hooked. so hot.
yea that last minute made the show for me. now I'm wondering if maybe the walt hallucination is being projected by the others to cause confusion. Sayid is gonna rip michelle rodriguez apart with his bare hands, and she deserves it.

this week's episode was a little slow, and it was not really a "OMG!" episode. I wasn't really shocked or pulled in by anything, and there isn't really a cliffhanger. I was a little bit disapointed. I am pretty curious about what the deal is with "the Others" but..... ummmmmmm not enough to be like OMG MY BRAIN IS FRIED like I usually am...
yeah I was trying to remember what happened, and it was, "Mike walked around looking for walt" "Jin walked around looking for Mike" "the second group walked toward the first group" "the korean girl walked around looking for her ring" I think thats it.

Also, as far as that swan satellite link is concerned, it says it orbits around the earth every 108 minutes, but due to the rotation of the earth, the only points its directly over every 108 minutes are the poles. a point on the equator would be scanned once a day. (I don't know where the island is, but its safe to say its closer to the equator than one of the poles)
i've heard that this can be dangerous over a long period of time because 1) your muscles rebuild when you are in deep sleep which takes a few hours to get into, and 2) it can mess up your short term memory because you need deep sleep for that too

you can die if you don't get enough REM sleep. but according to this article, if you get into the right cycle of half-hour naps, it's all REM and you can survive for quite a while.

walt was on the carton as a missing person.. but it was part of the dream sequence, so i'd venture it doesn't have any significance in the show. i mean, he was speaking korean, jin was speaking english, and there was a guy in a chicken suit
yeah why did they even have the dream sequence in there? was it just so in the previews they could have jin speaking english? i wonder. so frustrating.
Hurley was sleeping and having a weird dream. it set up the whole episode really. . .

It was good, and at the end it had me in tears, it was a good ending, kind of calm ...

i love hugo. and i loved how he was traveling around with his friend. but i hated the fact of how he promised to keep everything the same and then you saw in his eyes that it wouldnt be. and him yelling what it would be like with the food. so great to see charlie give claire peanut butter. i wanna see that develop more.

so what is everyone getting sick with? im so befuddled. now there are all these crazed people. i thought the sickness would be like in lord of the flies and desiring control and reverting to animal behavior but maybe i was wrong. im so on edge. my mom bought season 1 dvd's and that was the first time i watched it so it was great to not have to wait for anything, but now waiting week 2 week. i just know im gonna end up missing one and then be sooo LOST. hahahah. score!
no one is "sick" yet. the french woman said it was two months after their arrival that they began to get sick, so i'm guessing it might be two months before the new survivors start exhibiting symptons of something. they've been on the island 44 days, so we've got a couple weeks [island time]. . .

i agree with you. it's too slow paced for some people, i mean the second episodes continuity ran concurrent with the first episodes. we're not farther along in the main story, but we got to see what happened to Sawyer and Mike which was critical. then seeing Jin tied up on the beach being chased by the "others." STINKING AWESOME! every episode is an insane cliffhanger. i've got a lot of questions about Desmond now. like HOW? WHY! WHO ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! WHY ARE YOU THERE? HOW LONG? WHATS THAT MACHINE? WHAT KINDA "SICKNESS" IS ON THE ISLAND?! HOW DID YOU MEET JACK WHEN IT APPEARS YOU'VE BEEN IN THE HATCH SINCE THE SEVENTIES! GAH! it's frustrating and exciting and fun. so hot right now.

WOW. what a great episode. Great opening, I didn't know what was up until I heard the Thump. so glad I didn't read any spoilers. my wife and I think the magnet is the dude's protection against the nanotech. Any way. how did he get there? when did he get there? did he save Sarah's legs with some nanotech? what the heck?
this episode answered one big question (What is in the hatch?), but opened up a whole new batch of questions. This is going to be another great season.
great, great, great episode. ACTUALLY, this episode could have been last seasons closer and it woulda worked all right. but i'm glad we got a look at the inside of the hatch. i'm so pleased with this series. yesss!

everyone asks this. the definition of lost isn't locked to the fact that they're stranded. it's deeper and more personal, relating to each of the main character's lives and such. i have no idea where this series is going. that's why it's fun.

Didja see how Jack and Locke looked at each other and then at the open hatch? Locke said you're a man of science and I'm a man of faith. Jack said to Kate "We're going to have a Locke problem." Jack and Locke don't agree with each other. I'm thinking there will be a seperation of the tribe! It'll come down to a good vs. evil type thing like eluded to at the beginning of the season. I think it's more that he's made peace the island, somehow, and since he is a man of faith he believed he'd be ok.

I think that's why they showed him in the airport. he felt humiliated, inferior, embarrassed, emasculated when he was in the wheelchair. Then he crash-lands on the island, and his life is 100 times better. everyone else thinks its a disaster, and hates their situation and the island, but to him its salvation from a pathetic life. They definitely wanted the viewer to be reminded of the change in his quality of life.

I don't think we're dealing with a cloud of 'smoke' at all. Think about it. Danielle said it was the island's defense system. Locke treated with it, so it demonstrates some sort of sentience. I doubt it's supernatural in nature, although it has that appearance. So what is it? As I watched this thing uprooting trees, roaring, changing into various shapes and what not as need dictated, it hit me what it may well be: a cloud of nanites. Tiny robots, moving in a swarm, like bees or migratory birds, harmless alone, but all too deadly acting in unison. Literally, they would be like a living cloud. This would explain Locke's 'miracle'. They could have entered his body as he lay unconscious and repaired the damage to his nerve tissue, or, perhaps, left some of their number behind to bridge the gap, which would explain his later loss of nerve connectivity, and the visions. They could invade the host's brain, either disrupting its function, causing madness, or perhaps, in time, taking control entirely. Michael Chrichton wrote this cool book called "Prey", that deals with that very topic, namely, swarms of nanites originally developed for surgical applications, which evolved, developed sentience, and seized control of host organisms. They could be part of a larger machine intelligence housed beneath the surface of the island iteself, for which the hatch is but one egress. If this is the case, it explains why Locke refers to the island with a proper name, calling it "The Island" (the hatch, by the way, is awfully reminiscent of Morlock holes from "The Time Machine, isn't it?). Perhaps the 'pirates' that took Walt were part of this intelligence. Perhaps they were the Others, or part of their number. If indeed, they were from the party of scientists that crashed on the island with Danielle, that too would explain why they began to act "different", and how come Ethan, who would therefore be of that number also (could be Alex, as some have speculated), showed greatly enhanced strength, agility, and a sort of preiscience that union with a gestalt, machine intelligence created by or facilitated by networked nanites existing in symbiosis with their host would provide. So you see, it's all about the nanites, and a machine intelligence that killed its makers, and lured these people to this island, for purposes unknown...
I read this theory too. That's what it looks like to me. Then again, as astute and "in-tune" with this show I think I am--I'm wrong 95% of the time. That's what's fun.

I had some crazy "Lost" dreams last night. the hatch/shaft went down to a huge network of underground tunnels.
they found them because they were only 15 miles or so out from the island, and the ship came from the island. i guess with a powered boat they could cover a lot more area in a search pattern.

I really dug the new episode of Lost. Emotional pay-offs galore. The Jack and Sawyer thing regarding Jack's dad was SUPER. I was waiting for that! The Sun and Jin reconciliation was DEFTLY executed. Also Walt giving his dog to Shannon was super sweet. I teared up on those occasions and also when the boat shoved off and the dog tried to swim to Walt. Walt's apparent sadness is disturbing to me. He definitely knows something. Maybe he knows that he's gonna die or that some terrible things are gonna happen. All the flashbacks were neat. I liked how they were of all different characters. I loved the one with the Marshal. "Why do you need five guns?" Bahahahaaa. Danielle saying the monster is a security system makes sense to me, since I've always known the monster wasn't organic. That tinny roar never seemed real to me. What kinda security system and WHY? And the hatch? I'm not even going to go into it. I just wish Danielle and Hurley would have seen those cursed numbers on the side and totally bugged out. I was disappointed that Black Rock was a freaking pirate ship. WHY and...just...WHY? I don't like that new dude Arzt. When he was running from the monster and making that "hup, hup, hup" noise I thought SOLDIERS were gonna come outta the jungle and kick everyones butt, but nah, it was just that Arzt guy. Michelle Rodriguez' role was neat. Her seat number [42] and Jack's [23] are part of those cursed numbers. I imagine there will be more to that next season. So many unanswered questions, like, way too many. Hopefully the two hour finale will be...very telling and...satisfying. I'vw rambled enough. No one will read this, lol. I just like this series.

I always wondered who knocked Sayid out! LOCKE! Wow. Lots of stuff went down with this new ep. and several things were set-up. Lil clairvoyant Walter thinks "the hatch" is evil and now he wants OFF the island. Wow. I loved the devolopment between Clair and Charlie and also between Mike and Walt. I feel so bad for Sun. She's so desperate for her husband. KATE is NUTS. When she gets cornered she is highly, highly dangerous. Russo, the jungle woman, rolls up and she bodes ill for our group. Scary. The remaining eps. will be explosive. Can't wait.

Hahaha, nah. I hope I'm wrong though. I like Michael and Walt. I enjoy their dynamic. I DO think that early next season the craft will come back in pieces and we'll have flashbacks of what happened out at sea. You'll see. I'm good at this stuff.

i watched it too. it was a good refresher. Jack better not cap Locke. I will be 100% angry. I STILL think Locke is just a misunderstood jungle nutcase who means well. my mom think he's the evil to Jack's good...I guess we'll see. FOUR episodes left! AND the finale is TWO hours long!

I watch it every single week. The only show i actually drop everything to watch. i can't believe Boone, Ian Somerhalder's character is dead. I guess I kinda liked him. I honestly though it was gonna be someone else that bites it. It's gonna be a 24 episode season and we're just a few eps. from the finale. I love it. Locke though...his episode last week was majorly awesome. The guest appearance of Swoozie Kurtz as his mom was cool. I've always liked her. I can never decide if he's friend or foe.
