the internet is ruining our lives

AOL. AIM. Whatever you use. The internet has not only created a new language among our generation--it has nearly deleted some of our past-times. Time and time again, I'll call someone up and they will respond with an email. Way too important convos occur on instant messenger. AOL profiles + websites in general become war grounds and a way to compete against one another. Instant Messages, for some reason, cause people to say things and think things they'd never say or think in real life. It has a fakeness to it--you can talk to your friend online for hours and never mention the conversation you had with him/her when you are face to face because it is as though that happened in a parallel universe! Now dont get me wrong, I find online chatting very useful at times too---but let us not forget the art of communication through means as the telephone and snail mail. All have their place!

so true i mean you can barely have a proper conversation online, its full of lols and rofls and silly emotions but dont get me wrong it has its place. But like you said its so weird that you rarely get onto a meaningful conversation online hmm

i so totally agree!!!! Especially with the whole theres way to many seriose convos on here...like gettin to know people of the opposite sex....i think its a terrible idea to just talk online to someone for hours and not touch the phone....its not real life!!! Ezables kewl cause its like a never ending chat room u know? and theres tuns of people who keep changin the subject so its fun!!! But the internet really takes up so much of ur time! I mean think about it wat did u do before u had aim?! I like read books all the time and talked on the phone so much more! now its like ok call me later or ill just talk to ya online! or instead of gettin #'s its like hey do u have a s/n? or email??....im just hyper so im babblin but i really do luv the internet :) haha

sooo true - i used to read like two books a week and speak for hours on the phone - man i miss those days

i dont use email, i do all my important conversation on phone or face to face, and i use the internet for other things and chatting on aim is just a by product of being online, half my friends don't even have a computer so we all talk on the phone or are always out together.
