thatdarngirl #2.1 thatdarngirlOG 2002

omegatweeter #2.1.1 omegatweeterOG 2003

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

Just say you have a speech problem so when you say it out loud it sounds like Bob Parker so you got confused.

omegatweeter omegatweeterOG 2003

omegatweeter #3.1.1.1 omegatweeterOG 2003

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003

dude, why did every single kid in the countrey get whipped with the wooden spoon? mannnn.

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002

my mom broke SOOOOO many over my butt, you have no idea

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003

i have a VERY good idea. because my mom has broken several wooden spones over my tookus. a few plastic ones too. shoot!

T
toxicgirlOG 2003

my dad used those wooden stirring sticks for paint. among other things.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003

stirring sticks? aren't those flat? not too bad. a paint roller or a ladder? that'd really stink.

T
toxicgirlOG 2003

believe me, they hurt more than a spoon...i think he got a running start or something.

deutschlandboy #4 deutschlandboyOG 2003

who was the illiterate who typed a alligator.
it's AN ALLIGATOR .
and it's bob barker.

rocksupastar #4.1 rocksupastarFounder

the kid that wrote the journal is like 11... shutup.

ophelia #4.2 opheliaOG 2003

yeah, it's AN alligator..but..it's funny, what changes it from a to an?..like, why do we say an alligator, but say, a monkey....a crocidile, but, an orangutang..wait, wait, i think i figured this out..if the word starts w/a vowel, you always use an..if it's a consonant..you use a...woo hoooo!!

J

I was reading some book and it had written "an European". Which is technically corect but sounds so wierd

thatdarngirl #4.2.1.1 thatdarngirlOG 2002

Is that really correct? Because the rule is that the first sound is a vowel sound while the first sound in European includes the 'r' so..hmm.

yodasucka yodasuckaOG 2003

here
Q. What is the rule for determining whether to use "a" or "an"? A. The rule is: Use "an" before a word beginning with a vowel sound, however the word is spelled.

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

That's what I thought..I'm just not sure if "Eur" is a vowel sound or not..that 'r' kind of messes it up

yodasucka yodasuckaOG 2003

yea.. i don't know hahaha

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

Probably not because I guess the sylabel (what is that word!?) break down would be Eu-ro-pe-an.

yodasucka yodasuckaOG 2003

actully its Eur-o-pe-an... so the "r" does come in there

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 yodasucka

Says who!? I think the "u" may be fooling you. Actually, I end up saying the 'r' in the first two..

yodasucka yodasuckaOG 2003 thatdarngirl

if u do the clapping thing (come on, u know what i'm talking about!) it works our with the "r" in the first part

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 yodasucka

I don't do the clapping thing..I do the put the hand under my chin thing! I really do think the 'u' kind of sounds like an 'r' but then you have to do the 'ro'

yodasucka yodasuckaOG 2003 thatdarngirl

hand under your chin thing?! what are you talking about!?

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 yodasucka

So you can feel your jaw move as you pronounce the word!

yodasucka yodasuckaOG 2003 thatdarngirl

o man! that is amazing! i've never even heard of that before! i got the same results tho... lol

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 yodasucka

Oh dear..let's check dictionary.com they break stuff up for you!

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 yodasucka

Okay and I win! Eu-ro-pe-an!

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 thatdarngirl

Darn it! Actually..I don't win because my original argument was that it should be "a european" because the 'r' was in the first sound. Ugh.

yodasucka yodasuckaOG 2003 thatdarngirl

haha so u not only beat me, but u beat yourself

yodasucka yodasuckaOG 2003 thatdarngirl

o man! :( now i'm sad

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 yodasucka

Aw..don't be sad..you can win.

J
jollycandymanOG 2001

i think it sounds wierd because "Euro" sounds like "Yuro", the Y sound makes it sound wierd. The rule, I think, is "an" before any word starting with a vowel. And you would say "An Earing" even though there is an R in it. I dont know, maybe you are right

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

No, the rule is definetly by sound not by spelling. You would say "an hour" because the 'h' is silent.

J
jollycandymanOG 2001

Hmm, i think you might be right. But who knows really. The book I was reading was from the 1700's. So maybe just centuries of people talking, and using "an" before the vowel sounds, changed the rule

walkngplaygrnd #5 walkngplaygrndOG 2003

if it's a fight for POINTS, ian would DEFINITELY win

ilikebirds #6 ilikebirdsOG 2002

you all never been around 5 monkeys have you, they tear stuff up like they are on constant speed pills. i'd never be stuck in a room with 5 monkeys. plus after a million years they can write shakespeare

fivezero #7 fivezeroOG 2003

Bob Barker has finesse and tenchinque. he'd whomp on everyone. even Galactis.

ophelia #8 opheliaOG 2003

wait, wait, who's fighting who?....each option should have TWO oposing parties...like, how can i vote that the 5 monkeys would win, if it's not specified who they're up against?!

magnum #9 magnumOG 2001

dont let the dictator win!
