this is my warning to everyone NEVER to buy a Toshiba laptop and warranty. I just literally spent a total of 5 hours on the phone with those idiots trying to get a work order for them to fix our broken laptop, then just to admit that the warranty is valid. Idiots. No one should have to go through this crap.

originalsnob #228.1 originalsnobOG 2004

This bites hard =( I actually HAVE a Toshiba and luv it but, problem free on this end thus far. So customer service down in the gutter?
That's actually why I didn't go with Dell, hope it improves.

web-toedchloe #228.1.1 web-toedchloeOG 2001

I have an old toshiba that's a work horse - it's worked for like 8 years and I still love it. But this one is from 04/05 and it's been broken like 5 times. their products are going down the toilet and yes, cust service sucks!

Does anyone know the difference in the services (online messaging) that we are offered here in the states verses what's available in Canada???

I'm nixing one service but I need to replace it. Just trying to find out why we have like AIM and although it is "America" Online, isn't it pretty open like anyone can just visit the site and get it? You can even use AIM Express where you don't even need the software because it just runs through java in the browser. Canada confuses me lol! HELP

originalsnob #227.1 originalsnobOG 2004

The deal I'm hearing is that some people can only get MSN (up there) but, I totally know Canadians that have AIM. I'm so confused. What does it all mean?!?!?

theremin #227.2 thereminOG 2002

Well, I can confirm to you that AIM is available to anyone, anywhere in the World, yes. But, from my experience... Canadians seem to prefer ICQ. The Canadians are huge on ICQ like Americans are with AIM. And, Yahoo Messenger and MSN are probably runners up for Canadians. But, yeh, ICQ. Kind of a hassle.

web-toedchloe #223 web-toedchloeOG 2001

Has anyone ever tried that specialized migraine prescription medicine and found it helped?

flomojopoanode #223.1 flomojopoanodeFounder

no. BUT. I read that people who get migraines need to have good routines. Good sleeping, eating, and exercising habits. I also read that because pain begets pain, it's best to take a light over-the-counter pain killer at the very first sign of a headache. Often times a stomach ache is a warning sign of an on-coming migraine.

B
#223.1.1 brothermanOG 2004

What if it's just gas and you took the pill for nothing? LOL!

flomojopoanode #223.1.1.1 flomojopoanodeFounder

better than getting a migraine, dude. And you can kinda tell.

B
brothermanOG 2004

I don't get them, so I don't know.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003

i guess i'm blessed or something, i NEVER get headaches. like twice a year, maybe. i know people who get headaches everyday! crazy.

B
brothermanOG 2004

Yeah, I'm sure it sucks.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

UGH i get them almost everyday...but they're more of the sinus type.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003

it's probably because you're hot... uh, i mean IT'S hot. in Cali!

web-toedchloe #223.1.2 web-toedchloeOG 2001

I hate taking medicine all the time. My schedule is pretty good and I think I eat pretty well; for me, the trigger seems to be environment. When we were in Bethlehem, I got the worst sinus headaches because of the allergens there. My allergies are 100x better here, but the one thing that stresses me out every day? Driving. People here are the worst drivers I've ever seen in my life. Going to the store is more stressful than driving in Manhattan because every SUV has huge dings in the fenders, so I know they've hit or been hit, and they drive like maniacs. At least in NYC I know the taxis know how to drive and arent' going to hit me. Here, it's not an exaggeration to say that I have to avoid at least 1 accident every time I go out. Driving in service is worse because I'm already trying to drive as smoothly as possible while being directed somewhere I don't know - but if I don't drive, I get carsick because people in my hall can't drive either! Maybe I should try those motion sickness patches and lots of classical music.

socalgal #223.1.2.1 socalgalOG 2003

or massages or chiropractic care. that helps w/headaches and migraines.

forrestina #223.1.2.2 forrestinaOG 2002

I can suggest some non-drug alternatives to ease the pain. Press hard above and/or right between the inside corner of each of your eyebrows. This should ease a little of your tension/stress. Also, have you tried any aromatherapy? And you may want to up your magnesium intake because it has a connection to how you handle pain.

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001

Magnesium? I'll give that a try. I have these little aroma therapy things called "migrastick". they're a mix of peppermint and lavender oil that I rub directly where it hurts. They take away the contact pain and help, but they obviously don't get to the route of the problem.

I do have to find a new chiro here too. I have to make a bunch of calls about that.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

dont forget to take calcium w/the magnesium.

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001

Yeah, I definitely don't get enough calcium because I don't like milk or yogurt. I'd rather take tons of vitamins than chemical medicines.

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002

oranges are a great source of calcium.

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001

really? I didn't know that. I eat tons of lemons, I wonder if they're a good source of calcium too?

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

yeah if you dont you'll start getting leg cramps. i learned the hard way. not good.

My friend Emily Has waist length hair and she did this style for a winter formal and she didn't hack off anything she just used jumbo bobby pins strategically placed from beneath. Just so you know, just incase you haven't fully committed to the idea of the BIG SNIP

punkprincess punkprincessOG 2001

my hair is WAY too thick to use bobby pins. in fact just doing the girl fohawk i need like 5 bobby pins and thats for such a small amound of hair.
its pretty much all or nothing. and im in love with the 40's swing style. ive been looking for a hair cut that is 1/2 modern & 1/2 40's andi think this is it! if i hate it, itll grow back in a year. my hair grows at a rediculous rate. last year this time my hair was just above my shoulders...

punkprincess punkprincessOG 2001

yea, ive done so many different crazy things with my hair, actually i think theres a story on here from like 5 eyars ago about it. but in the end, it always grows back :)

Dont Cut It!! Long hair is always the best...

originalsnob originalsnobOG 2004

Ooo how about my dream color dark auburn??? What direction were you leaning in for color?

Everytime I'm in "the chair" they hack of a lot when I always say trim, last summer I lost three inches. I mean my hair grows fast but, I was really excited when I walked in the door I was on my way to where I wanted to be...when I walked out I was fuming! Then the stylist goes "No Mami it only looks short because I flipped it up, when it falls it'll still be long." Ummmmm it fell and it was barely collarbone. From that day forward I have not sat in Mary's chair.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

right now the base color is dark brown and it has a mix of light, red and light brown highlights. its step one of the lightening process. i really like it....it actually looks like ive been out in the sun a lot.

In comparison with the extent of damage that could have been done, I'd say she was fortunate.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/sportSkills

HAHAHAHAAAA!!!! yessssss!!! so, brotherman, if you look at the above link you will see that football is indeed a harder sport to play than baseball. but baseball did put up a fight. as you can clearly see from the list baseball made it into the ranks, barely edging out water polo, and team handball in difficulty.

this is a great day.

B
#208.1 brothermanOG 2004

I read one paragraph and stopped. "Toughest" is the term used. As in, something that demands the most out of your body. That was never a debate. I was speaking of hitting a sphere with a cylinder. Wake up boy!

A
#208.1.1 alexOG 2001

god you're an idiot. whatever. there is nothing left to argue about. the rankings were based on "difficulty." you didn't even read the entire thing.

direct quote: "In Page 2's Ultimate Degree of Difficulty Grid, boxing scores higher than them all."

i'm great, and you're a jerk! hahahahahaaaaa. I RULE BABY!!!

B
#208.1.1.1 brothermanOG 2004

Difficulty and skill are two different things. If we're talking difficulty as far as what your body has to go through, then of course many sports are more difficult than baseball. I would say any type of fighting sport is the most difficult because it requires and athlete to be in the most pristine condition. At one job I worked at, we played soccer at lunch time. I was wiped out a lot of times because theres a lot of running. I could play a double header baseball game and not feel the same way. So in that respect it was more difficult.

B
#208.1.1.2 brothermanOG 2004

And my argument is definitely proved. Under the heading Hand/Eye Coordination, it scored a 9.25. That is better than every single other sport. That is the argument I was proving, not agility or strength, etc. Anyone knows hand/eye coordination is a harder skill than being strong or agile. I've also heard countless sport commentators say that hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do in sports. So who is the idiot now?

A
alexOG 2001

uuuh...you. you're the idiot now.

"Anyone knows hand/eye coordination is a harder skill than being strong or agile." this is so dumb. there is no possible way to judge which skill is harder (strength, agility, or hand eye coordination). the point of the article was to take all of the attributes an athlete needs to play a sport (endurance, strength, speed, agility, flexibility, nerve, durability, hand eye coordination, and analytic aptitude) and see which sport required an athlete to harbor most of those attributes. nobody is denying that it is hard to hit a baseball. but that is the hardest thing about the entire sport. a football player needs to display more of those attributes than a baseball player, making them better athletes.

B
brothermanOG 2004

Strength isn't a skill. Agility isn't a skill. It's inherited by keeping yourself in shape and pushing your body to the limit. Anyone who is set on doing that can accomplish those things. I work out, so you can't say I'm clueless.

You could be in awesome shape, but that does not mean you can catch a football or hit a baseball or shoot a basketball. Skills are the latter mentioned things. All require focus and proper mechanics.

For example, I started mountain biking regularly. My cardio was not that great in the beginning. Tonight I did a 27 mile ride and I felt really strong. It's the best I've felt doing it since I started up again. Where's the skill there? It was just a matter of continually doing it to get me to this point. A person could practice hitting a baseball continually and never be good at it. It's a condition in your mind that allows you to focus enough to see the ball well enough to hit it proficiently. It's not something you can teach or naturally do.

The quarterback has the hardest job on the football field. He has to block out guys rushing towards him and hone in on a running receiver and then make a good throw.

The goalie on a hockey team has the hardest job on the ice. He has to focus on the puck coming in at high speeds and filter out bodies getting in his way as he is doing it.

All of these things require massive amounts of hand/eye coordination. It's the hardest skill in all sports. And baseball scored highest in that department.

The survey was all-around difficulty. You should make a call in on a sports show and I bet you if you asked what particular skill is the hardest in sports, most analysts will say hitting a baseball is.

But... You may then think it is "the man" messing with their thinking, so you probably still won't be convinced.

A
alexOG 2001

blah, blah, blah...hand eye coordination is something some people have naturally, just like some people are naturally strong, or fast. please don't ever talk about football like you know anything about it, because when you do it shows how little you know about it. there is no way to prove that hand eye coordination is the hardest skill in sports. but if you type in "hardest sport" in google, that article is the first link that comes up. football (according to espn) is the 3rd hardest all around sport. aka, you need the most all around skill in order to play it. maybe you don't need as much hand eye coordination as baseball, but you still have to have some. maybe baseball requires more hand eye coordination than football does, but football players need to have more all around skills. they are better all around athletes.

hitting a baseball takes hand eye coordination, but so does catching a 30 yard bullet pass over the middle of the field while a 205 pound safety, and a 265 pound linebacker, are both running into you at fool speed. hitting a baseball is just muscle memory. catching a football is a different situation every time.

go ahead and argue with the facts. try and dispute the authorities (espn, the largest sports network ever). try to deny it, but you are just blinding yourself. your like a person who believes in the trinity, but can't explain how it works. you can argue with them forever, and disprove every thing they say to you, but when you walk away from the door they still believe in the trinity. baseball is pagan false doctrine. football is the truth.

Again, all-around difficulty is different than one particular aspect such as hitting. A good hitter succeeds 30% of the time. That kind of success rate in other sports would be disastrous. But I guess we'll have to agree that we disagree.

tesoro tesoroOG 2001

HAHAHA..."baseball is pagan false doctrine. football is the truth" I love it. haha

As an outsider...(i know nothing about sports) you both make really good arguments....and I am not yet convinced of either....please continue. haha

B
brothermanOG 2004

Alex keeps arguing the all-around difficulty, which I never argued. If ESPN did a survey on the most difficult "skill" in sports, hitting a baseball will be #1. What they did in the survey he linked us to was average all aspects into one score. I don't disagree with the survey, looks accurate.

But, apparently Alex has never seen Mariano Rivera saw bats in half with his cut fastball. The guy has something like a 0.05 ERA in the postseason. And the hits people got off him were usually bloopers and bouncers up the middle, nothing solid. He's also probably never seen Barry Zito's trademark 12-6 curveball. It starts out at 12 o'clock and ends at 6 o'clock. There are so many different kinds of pitches with movement and guys who have sneaky deliveries, that a hitter has an extremely difficult job out there. Whole teams usually have a team batting average of about .260 to .270. And that is good teams. A 27% success rate? Name any skill in sports where you can win with that kind of rate of success?

web-toedchloe #202 web-toedchloeOG 2001

Alright, I'm super freaked out. I got one of those long thin brushes meant to pull excess lint out of your dryer, because the guy who lived here before us (and used the dryer before us) seemingly never cleaned it out, so I didn't want to cause a fire. I brushed a bunch of lint out, and felt the turbine mechanism moving freely, so I thought things were great. Then I turned on the dryer and heard a bunch of crumbs getting sucked through, but then it was like 20 times louder and vibrated 20 times more than usual. So I thought maybe I'd forced a ball of lint down too far. I got a flashlight and saw a ball stuck in the turbine. Using the brush, I pulled it out to examine it. Then I noticed an ear, a paw, and a very long tail. Either my mind is playing tricks on me and I have a great imagination, or there's a mouse in my dryer. :\

#185 brothermanOG 2004

Scientists really irk me sometimes. They find a baby mammoth and come up with some crazy estimate that it's 40,000 years old and from the ice age. I love how they base theories like the ice age as fact. Same with the big bang and thinking some skulls are primitive apemen. It kind of makes life meaningless the way they view things.

thatdarngirl #185.1 thatdarngirlOG 2002

Wait, so you don't think things like the ice age and big bang took place?

You don't think something like the ice age could have happened over the thousands of years Jehovah was creating the Earth? I mean, I wouldn't ever look at it in the context that most Anthropologists do but there was all this time and stuff going on before he created man. Like dinosaurs.

Oh, and as for the big bang. I like to think about these things sometimes and it's probably not like Jehovah just snapped his fingers and BAM universe is there. Wouldn't it make sense if stuff was created and then he orchestrated how it would all explode and then form into the universe? It seems so artistic and beautiful.

I need to go to sleep.

B
#185.1.1 brothermanOG 2004

I think elements of these things happened. But how did a Mammoth get put in deep freeze and perfectly preserved? Seems as though it instantly was frozen. Maybe flood waters that Jehovah turned into ice? I just hate how theories are put in books as facts and yet scientists never agree with one another. 40,000 years is a bit of a ridiculous date. They think humans have been around for like a million years. Crazy stuff.

juicymango #185.1.2 juicymangoOG 2003

yeah i remember something from I think the Creator book saying how the big bang probably happened it just didn't happen BY ITSELF like science says.

B
#185.1.2.1 brothermanOG 2004

And that's my whole point. They mix elements of truth with uncertainties.

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003

yeah but at least they admit that they are not sure - the big bang THEORY.. the evolution THEORY.. theory is unproven hypothesis

B
brothermanOG 2004

But they put it in science books as facts and teach it to kids. They base theories as facts.

B
brothermanOG 2004

Like the whole mammoth thing. There's no way its 40,000 years old. There's no way some of these humans skeletons they find are 10,000 years old.
