rocksupastar's DJ antics dominated this thread, with rapid-fire song mentions and enthusiastic punctuation. A notable moment was when he declared, "WOOHOOO PWND YOU NOOBS!" after switching to Fall Out Boy, prompting flomojopoanode to respond, "lol, this song is not bad at all." The thread's eclectic mix of artists, from Bob Marley to Arctic Monkeys, also reflected the diverse tastes of the eZabel community...

hahaha, all my friends and all my lovers are dead
2 good ones from England. I've been listening to a band out of Bristol recently.. Movietone. Very calming music, easing female vocals, occasionally sung duo with male vocals, gentle acoustic guitar and gentle percussion, sometimes with light ambience in the background, like quiet seaside sounds for example. Also, there's a mostly instrumental band out of Oxford called Workhouse that I've been listening to.. kinda comparable to Explosions in the Sky.
Far Cry by Rush
Awesome song! Can't wait till the album comes out.
60 Watt Shaman
I just got three new CDs: (I love having CDs delivered to my office, it always makes my day better)
Year of the Rabbit - s/t (Ken Andrews is AMAZING)
Channels - Waiting for the Next End of the World (We saw Channels about a year ago and their material was great - I'm hoping this CD is representative of how good they were live)
Strung Out - Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues (because I've heard it a million times, but didn't own it, and everyone should own this record.)
I'm listening to the Strung Out CD in my car - it's well written, old school punk. Good stuff.
I'm listening to Year of the Rabbit here at work, right now, the song "Hunted", they lyrics of which are incredible. I can't wait to see Ken Andrews live.
AKON_ Don't Matter
Luv it!

Luna. I'm remembering the nineties. Dean and Britta from Luna released an album today: http://www.deanandbritta.com/ I didn't know she was the vocals behind the cartoon JEM.
I wouldn't listen to Luna. Dean & Britta might be alright. I think Galaxie 500 is alright. Lot of weird stuff behind Luna tho just to warn ya dear.
really? yipes! i haven't seen/heard/read anything strange so far.
Yeh, I don't know anything first hand or details, so maybe I don't have a place to say anything, but yeh supposedly so.

my chemical romance-welcome to the black parade
wow. i am definitely impressed. i remember seeing mcr before they hit it big, and they were not very good. very foul mouthed. that soured me on them, and i didnt really catch the craze that came with their last album. but this one is good, i gotta say
huh, im surprised. i really did not care for this album, or this song at all. it sounded so over produced and just down right gay to me.
this seemed like such a digression from their last album, Life on the Murder Scene, which was much more raw and punk, and to be perfectly frank; not gay.
i didnt enjoy any of their music before. this album is so...modern day queen/bowie.
they are from belleville/kearny area and i think sometimes you can hear a hint that rap/hip hop influence in their songs. do you guys agree or disagree?
i dont really agree with that, even though they are from newark
perhaps you should take a look at google maps to see where kearny is vs. newark. Two towns over. Sheesh.
(Maybe he means he disagrees with the statement that they have a rap influence)
yeah dude, i was confirming the fact that they were from the Newark area. maybe you should read into peoples comments a little closer before you start acting like a jerk. how's that sound?
now you just made yourself look like an idiot.
oh brother. i understood what you said. don't fight over this guys. i wasn't trying to start a knowledge of jersey geography war.
the real question is...does central new jersey really exist?
:]
Of course.. we've been over this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Jersey And you knew I'd have something to say. hahaha
Isle of Wight Festival 2006
the pogues- The Sick Bed of Cuchulainnof of the album Rum, Sodomy and the Lash...
haha, it's really good., but kind of depressing. it's like traditional irish music fused with contemporary punk, if you have never heard them before.
You like The Pogues! Excellent! I saw them live twice this year at the beginning of the year in Atlantic City and New York City. What great shows they were! You've made me want to switch on their music now.
Ever listen to Zox? They opened for Flogging Molly when I saw them in October...really interesting mix, I wouldn't exactly say punk with Irish influence but it falls in there somewhere.
Zox sounds to have a heavier injection of ska, with the exception of their having a violin which might give a small hint of Irish feel. Personally, I can't say like it.
The reason I love the Pogues so much, is because I love traditional sound, and the Pogues have a very clear traditional injection, because one, they're actually an Irish band that hails froms Ireland and two, they use traditional instruments, rather then electric guitars. In fact, I don't consider the Pogues punk. I consider them to have punkish attributes and a root of maybe what became "punk." Which is pretty much all aggressive Irish pub sing a longs. If the Pogues got rocky with electric guitars and had an "Irish-American punk sound," I'd probably not like them.
counting crows- goodbye L.A.

I've been listening and watching Eric Mongrain on YouTube. He's plays an acoustic guitar awesomely. Just discovered him on YouTube.
look up antoine dufour...he will blow your mind.
^^i think that's how you spell his name.
Wow, thank you. You're right, I dig this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGemE401r-M). I have a couple for you: Kaki King (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbXZJEOtXVs) - starts mellow and grows more intense, and then there's a guy I just discovered on YouTube over the weekend that does this tapping style, has the user name capo420420... he's not signed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qE-uvIDQmJA) he's very wrong about only 2 guitarists in the world playing this style, but whatever, he's still good at the acoustic guitar lap tapping style. I would love to form a n Irish folk band and have the acoustic guitars playing this style along with a bodhran drum. The acoustic guitar has such an addictive sound being played this way.
matches-the format. waiting to go to my next class :-/
I'm currently listening to my Pandora. Artists that have been playing on my station today included, Tom Waits, Six Organs of Admittance, The Velvet Underground, Yo La Tengo, Songs : Ohia, a few others as well.
