Star Wars fans are quite the bunch. I guess I would

weigh them in with Star Trek and the rest of the Sci

Fi community. Waiting in line, hearing the multiple

conversations drifting around me. Opinions on Queen

Amidala and Anikan, the movie’s CGI graphics compared to other

movies, and yes of course, the art of smuggling candy

into a theatre.

With the greasy popcorn smell filling the

air, the weight of my smuggled reeses pieces, and water

bottle pulling down my pants. I rush into the theatre

for Star Wars : Attack of the Clones! Feeling like a

total jerk forgetting my girlfriend outside who needed

her ticked which was in my heavily filled pocket.

Ahhhhh, yessss. Perfect seats, not too close, not to

far away, not too much to the left or to the right... Juuuust

perfect. Anticipation fills the audience as the now

all too familiar opening music starts up. Grinning

ear to ear, popping candy and drinking my smuggled

water, I am totally captivated by the story that

begins to unroll.

What impressed me most of the film was all of the

"hints" that were dropped. Things that you went

"oohh....." about. Senator Papatine telling Anikin

about how Anakin will be the most powerful of the

Jedi. Or just Anakins crush on Senator Amidala (quite

the charmer, isn’t he?)Half way through the movie, with

my legs aching, and stomach churning from the multitude

of reeses I had consumed, I was impressed, very

impressed with the movie so far. But a lot was yet to

come.

** minor spoilers in this paragraph ** The last 45 minutes were pure heaven. Star Wars

fans got to see their dreams come true. First with a

multitude of Jedi fighting against a HUGE army of

robots and animals alike. Then, as the finale, Jedi

Master Yoda fighting Count Dooku! We got to see what

nobody would expect from the little green man from

episodes 5 and 6. He was jumping around, flipping, all

while keeping the Count at bay with his cute little

lightsaber. The crowd around me irrupted into

whistles, screams, laughter and anticipation of what

was going on in front of them. ** end spoilers **

When it was all over, all the people streaming out of the theatre, I was left thinking. I didn’t know if I really liked it it. I thought that it was a great movie, awesome effects and good plot (minus the lovestory… mushy crap should stay outta action movies) So pondering the movie out in service today, I have come to a conclusion. I really did like the film. Everything rocked about it.. and of course… Natalie Portman is hot. So what do you guys thing about the movie, good, bad, ok?

Is Katie okay with you saying that Nat Portman is hot? If there was a spiritual single pioneer sister out there who looked like her (Nat, that is), I can safely say that I would make a move to get to know her... but there probably ain't so I will wait for the spiritual single pioneer sister who looks like Selma Hayak instead... grrrr, baby!

ANyway, looking forward to seeing ep 2... if you are going to see it again, let me know! I'll smuggle the Good & Plenty's

katiedid katiedidFounder

haha, yea i'm used to it. it doesnt bother me in the least cause i know there's no chance. and it's almost flattering considering a while back he said that i resemble her (an outright lie and creative attempt to win my over). gotta give him a little credit.

Dave you like Good & Plenty's? I thought I was the only one. lol

rocksupastar rocksupastarFounder

i said that your HAIR looked like hers.. and it DID!!!! so.. why dont you just TAKE the dumb comment and LEAVE IT ALONE.. sheesh woman!

flyingfree1125 flyingfree1125OG 2001

let me give you some advice never call your girlfriend woman. get it NEEEEVVVVEEEER!!!!!!

delliott101 delliott101OG 2002

My dad and I both adore Good & Plenty's... I put one in my mouth and chew the shell off.. then eat the licorice... I usually split the pink and white ones, then eat the ones with the thinner shells first. Typically, pink goes first, then white.

Once upon a time there was an engineer

And Choo Choo Charlie was his name we hear

He had an engine and he sure had fun

And he used Good & Plenty candy to make his train run

rocksupastar rocksupastarFounder

HAHAHAHA.. awesome dave!

delliott101 delliott101OG 2002

I put the grrrr in tiger! Yeah baby!

HAHA so funny, mike you must have really got into it to leave your poor g/f outside bwahahaha :P

deanh77 deanh77Founder

this is a nice review, I also like the movie "Star Wars" it was good. it made me feel happy in side.

magnum magnumOG 2001

YODA KICKS BOOTY! My favorite part of the movie was his scene and Mace Windu's Scene in it!

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

I definetly thought it was much better then the first (although, I do like the first..it is star wars after all despite the fact that it's not very good star wars). The action scenes were awesome, and I like watching the whole political movement thing where you know you're seeing the rise of the empire. It's so cool seeing how everything started out. Anakin was such a cry baby (which fits the whole dark side thing because in order to fall, he let his emotions get the better of him) but I don't see what Padme sees in him. Sure he's cute and all but..I'd go for Obi-wan if I were her.

ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002

too much time on your hands mike.

rocksupastar rocksupastarFounder

well thats what happens when you work at a dead end job in hackettstown and have plenty of time on your hands..

oobster oobsterOG 2002

WHAT A BLOOOOOMIN BRILLIANT FILM!!

yoda is sooo cool and I love how he leaps around like something from the Matrix and as soon as Dooku leaves he's hobbling around with a stick again! Funny but fantastic! Cant wait for the next one!

delliott101 delliott101OG 2002

After the next one comes out, we'll have to do a day to watch all 6 Star Wars movies in chronological order!!! whoa...

magnum magnumOG 2001

and then when last 7-9 are done we can have a marathon!

delliott101 delliott101OG 2002

I don't think Lucas is doing eps 7-9.. I think he stated he will do these 3 "prequels" and that's it.... but of course with all the money ka-chinging from these movies (as well as merchandising) his mind may change since he made that statement...

rocksupastar rocksupastarFounder

yea joe, ur dumb

magnum magnumOG 2001

i maybe dumb but someone showed me a quote where he slipped up and said he had to write stuff in the prequels so that it would match up in episode 7 so :P to all you skeptics! Maybe he wont but as a true starwars fan unlike the rest of you all id like to see 7-9!

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

I'd like to see 7-9 of course too, what true star wars fan wouldn't? Though, Lucas has definetly said he would not be making them. For one, authors have written over 30 books (most of which I own) that cover some 40 years after Return of the Jedi. Who would play everyone's favorite Star War's characters? I seriously doubt Harison Ford can fit into those skin tight black pants anymore. If they got new people they would be rejected and it just wouldn't be..right. So, I almost don't want to see 7-9. It would be like the sequal to Gone with the Wind..just wrong.

magnum magnumOG 2001

lol you own 30 starwars books (FREAK) intresting... Well i want to see 7-9 and thats what counts! :P

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

I am not a freak...well..so I like to expand my mind leave me alone! Reading is good!

magnum magnumOG 2001 thatdarngirl

FREAK! FREAK! FREAK! hehe just playin with ya, i prolly read every starwars fanfic on the net while being bored at work :/

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 magnum

I reserve massive fanfiction reading for sailor moon..but star wars. Woohoo! Another way to waste my time..im excited now.

rocksupastar rocksupastarFounder thatdarngirl

im with you.. i have a TON of star wars books that i have picked up over the years.. and yes... i have read all of them several times.... im a freak, ill admit it

ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002 rocksupastar

you all or freaks. geez. i'm surprised i didn't see and of you at the stars wars exhibit when at went to the brooklyn museum of art.

punkprincess punkprincessOG 2001

lol i love that in the begining you said I'd like to see 7-9 and at the end of the comment you said So, I almost don't want to see 7-9 hahaha good times

flomojopoanode flomojopoanodeFounder

the next one won't be out until May of 2005. Hopefully the new system's here by then. As good as the last SW (ep. 3) will be, the new system would whoop it's booty.

malibu malibuOG 2001

i thought the dress natalie portman was wearing when she kissed anakin the first time was the most gorgeous dress i have ever seen. i want it soo bad now. my new mission for my sewing machine is to make a less elegant style of it for myself.

ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002

yea the backless sleeveless dress.. WHEW.. woman need be made to wear that everyday all day.. even when fishing.

rocksupastar rocksupastarFounder

mmmm mmmmm mmmmm.. i like that plan ty

*SLAP* behave young one!

rocksupastar rocksupastarFounder

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? what did I do.. it was TY!

flyingfree1125 flyingfree1125OG 2001

she kissed him??????????? im upset its all ruined now

deanh77 deanh77Founder

?, they are the parents of luke and leia. I'm not gonna be graphic, but usually some kissing is involved between a) meeting someone and b) having their children. I think it was a foregone conclusion. I really hope you were kidding.

rocksupastar rocksupastarFounder

shes younger dean... she may not realize that yet... relax dude

flyingfree1125 flyingfree1125OG 2001

shut up mike. I didnt see the movie so i didnt knew they kissed

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

woa..kissing..was that what that was!? oh my gosh..I never knew, and I'm 17!!! And I still don't get it..why do Padme and Anakin have to be together so luke and leia can be born? Do storks not work in outer space or something?

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder

haha, very witty

rocksupastar rocksupastarFounder

I thought babies grew on trees..

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

that's not what my mommy said. we had a talk about the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees and the moon up above..and a thing called love.

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder

lol! that's funny stuff, i never heard that second part

delliott101 delliott101OG 2002

Don't be graphic... when I was 12(which is flyingfree's age), I had no idea about such things myself, although that was back in the '70's when I had Bobby Brady hair and disco was in.

flyingfree1125 flyingfree1125OG 2001

i know about all that nasty stuff. i JUST DIDNT SEE THE MOVIE!!!!!

magnum magnumOG 2001

haha bobby brady

deanh77 deanh77Founder

I don't remember being graphic. I do believe I said, "I won't be graphic" and then the words "meeting someone" and then the words "having children" and then insinuating that "something" goes on in between. you can check it yourself.

flomojopoanode flomojopoanodeFounder

mike...you spelled Anakin wrong! How could you DO that?! Some Star Wars fan YOU are. Hey everybody, I think he's faking it! He's really a Star Trek fan, get him!

rocksupastar rocksupastarFounder

did NOT!

flyingfree1125 flyingfree1125OG 2001

i think you did

D
darthhallOG 2002

Star Trek stinks. I think I would get more enjoyment out of watching Power Rangers than that garbage. heehee.

I really liked in AOTC when Yoda was sensing Anakins pain and defiance. Especially before he shows up in the hangar to take on Dooku. I thought it brought alot to the story.

Sorry if I spoiled anything for those who didn't rush to see it yet.

delliott101 delliott101OG 2002

But I like Star Trek, Danny Boy... at least the Original Series and Next Gen... can't stand Deep Space Nine and can tolerate Voyager... have to catch up on Enterprise, though...

ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002

who was anakin's father ? why did he have so many of those little whatever they are called.. metachlorines.. right right.. why why...

deanh77 deanh77Founder

he didn't have a father, he was immaculately conceived. the midichlorians infected shmi and made her concieve or something.

ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002

are you seriuos? or are you pulling my leg?

rocksupastar rocksupastarFounder

yea... she said in the first movie that he had no father.. the midiclorians concieved him.. thats why he was supposed to bring balance to the force... haha.. i sound like i believe it or something

C
crazygirlOG 2001

i think you do mike...

rocksupastar rocksupastarFounder

nu uhh... just cause i made my own lightsaber and try to balance on my head and move rocks doesnt mean ANYTHING

ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002

ok with this balance crap.. i don't understand .. how he brings balance to it ? he's on the evil side .. and the evil are already powerful..? explain.

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

He's evil now but when he's darth vader (in Return of the Jedi) he brings balance to the force when he shows that he's really good inside and kills the emperor. Therefore only one jedi, Luke, remains, and he's good.

malibu malibuOG 2001

my mom always says how they take movie themes from the bible. like jesus had no father and was humans equalizer to be able to have a relationship with god, so anakin was the force's equalizer.

rocksupastar rocksupastarFounder

yea.. my mom said that too.. blah blah.. they also used the famous... jedi stands for jesus disciples... so.. i dont believe that junk

ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002

and where are these " midiclorians " are they the force? what are they.. why don't they come out and whip butt.. and why don't i have any ?

rocksupastar rocksupastarFounder

they are some kinda cells that the jedi have

deanh77 deanh77Founder

nah, I think they're "parts" of cells, like ribosomes or the closely named mitochondria, which are parts of cells that scientists don't really understand, they have their own DNA and other stuff.

I think miti-chlorians are close enough to mitochondria that we could possibly assume that they are one and the same in the Star Wars universe. but I wouldn't go that far.

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

ESSAY: 'The Force' Is Already With All Of Us

By Boyce Rensberger, 08/30/99

Midiclorians, as Jinn explains, are microscopic creatures that long ago took up residence in the bodies of humans and all other creatures. They're symbiotic organisms that live in all our cells.

As it happens, all human cells really do contain symbiotic organisms that took up residence in the dim evolutionary past. This is a story that biologist Lynn Margulis has been explaining for many years. These symbiotic organisms are the size of bacteria, quite a bit smaller than regular cells, and they contain their own DNA. They even reproduce inside our cells, dividing just as bacteria do. Cell biologists know them as mitochondria. The singular is mitochondrion - apparently a recent corruption of the term midiclorian used long, long ago.

Mitochondria are the energy sources of all cells that aren't bacteria to begin with - the cells of animals, plants, fungi and protozoans. They really are an energy source that pervades the living world, supplying the force that makes our bodies function.
