Moving to NYC!
So, I've taken a new job in the city, and the commute is 2 hours each way. Mikayla and I decided to try living in the city for a while.
We signed a lease on a new apartment in Battery Park City, which is in downtown Manhattan. Address: 70 Battery Pl, New York, NY.
Here's a video tour:
It's in a quieter part of the city, with lots of parks and bike paths. Tourists don't really visit the area, and it gets really really quiet at night.
The apartment is on the first floor in a nice nine-floor building with a doorman, elevators, roof access, a gym, bike storage, laundry on every floor, and a private terrace area with grass that is only accessible to tenants. There are 11 train lines within like a 15 minute walk, which is sweet! My commute to work will be a ten minute walk, and a 14 minute train ride on the R or W. There's also a bus to Union Square right there.
These two windows are our apartment:

Looks like we'll be in the South Manhattan Congregation, which meets at a Kingdom Hall right by the Brooklyn Bridge. We haven't visited yet, but we're planning on it soon! Definitely curious about the congregation and the territory.
So, we're moving on January 23rd. And if you want to come for a visit, please come any time! Just give us a little notice so we can figure out if we're around. There's an ice-skating rink right nearby for the winter. Let's go ice-skating!
BTW, we're selling both of our cars. 2006 Subaru Outback Limited is the first to go. ~$17k, 62k miles, full warranty. If you're interested, let me know!
It's gonna be crazy!

Page 7 of 7What do you do when your job becomes stale? It's a very convenient job for my family situation, but it has become waaaayyyy to boring lately. I'm gonna stick it out for now, but I don't know how much longer I can bore myself to death.
I always quit. Hence why I'm quitting tomorrow!! YAY!!!!!!!
hahaha... I have kids. I can't be that hasty.
well, i do have another job lined up. this is improvement. this is the first time i've quit with somewhere else to go. i getting more responsible!!
Haha... Well done!
thanks! im really excited!! except im dreading having to actually quit. I never know when to do it or what to say. I have a letter of resignation. Should i just give it to the office manager or say im quitting and then give it to her?? any thoughts?
I would say, "I have found another opportunity, thank you for giving me an opportunity here, here is my letter of resignation." You don't need to go into detail unless you get grilled. Then you'll have to think of something to say after that that will make you look good to keep the job as a reference. I would say if they ask you why you are leaving, that you feel the new opportunity will help you grow more professionally.
ok i like that.... Thanks!!
put it in writing and make sure you give a specific date cause if they want to let you go before the date you state they have to pay you up until that date
*thats how it works here in CA anyway
yeah, i did my letter already and it has my last day. i just hate the conversation....
yeah the last job i quit it took me like 2 weeks to do it hahahaa it was pathetic, haha
yeah, its so hard. I've been praying all day! I just did it and my boss said she knew. So I don't feel so bad.

omg....this is awesome.
you're going to want to use photoshop to restore it. it looks old and crappy. lol
LOL
Hehee is it bad that I came on here looking for this?
Hi everyone :)
hahhaha BEST clip from this show
We are moving to Philly area so our house is for rent
if anyone knows anyone who wants to live in south jersey by the beachy beach
Cute place, but 103 miles one way to my job, not so appealing. haha
OMG are you serious? i thought you hated philly? whats up w/that?
Speaking of Philly... Philly sports fans are retarded. I took the kids to the Mets/Phillies game yesterday and the fans have the nerve to taunt Mets fans when the Mets have won both series so far. They're all high still because the Phils won the division last year... Get a life. New season! So far the Mets own them.
yeah i hate philly but chris got a really good job there, and most of my clients are from the area, and philly suburbs are not bad
sooo, we're movin!
this is sad .... although, actually, a good friend of mine and his wife are moving to philly from LA. You better not be friends with them by the time i show up!
why is it sad? I'm happy about moving. I hate south jersey. I liked it for a while but now i'm just sick of it and ready for a change. We have been looking to move for the past year.
and you were supposed to move this way....tsk tsk! :P
hey at least it's.. west.. ha
you'll love it
Which suburb? I'm in West Mount Airy on a regular basis.
"now's the perfect time. the season is just right. we can play all day and dance into the night. at beautiful mount airy lounge, all you have to bring is your love of everything. all you have to bring is your love of everything, beautiful mount airy lodge."
anyone remember that commercial?
yeh I remember it. I hope you googled to get the words, cause it's right sad if you knew it off the top of your head. Wrong Mt. Airy tho.
grats on the new job, chris!
Is your house for sale also, and just wont sell? or are you just renting it in case things dont work out in philly?
We talked to our realtor and he said selling right now would be totally pointless - we would lose a lot of money. So we are not listing it, but we want to sell it. We'll just try to sell it in like 6 months to a year, maybe the market will turn around. ORRR if we can't get a renter... we'll probably just list it and see what happens. There are like 4085742498 houses for sale around here right now, not budging.
If things don't work out in philly we'll go somewhere else, i don't want to come back here lol
dude, get a houseboat... and sail around the world taking pictures of ocean weddings, chris be a sunbather ... come over on this side and ill be your skipper... and get dan... he will be Gilligan....
wow i'll definitely live on a houseboat, spending my day modeling my ridiculously soft abs for kam
lolol
i would love a houseboat
um...
words can not express how gay that statement was...
soft abs?
lol
i mean... WOW gay... i hope lauren sees this.
Renting it out now is very much the best thing to do at the moment for obvious reasons. If you're not buying another house, needing the money from the sale of your current home... yeh, definitely do not sell. But, let me know when you're ready to sell it. :)
And I wasn't asked to list it. I'm hurt.
hey we are not listing it we just wanted to talk to our local realtor to ask him how the market has been here in town
don't be hurt`
oh that's a simple one... rotten for sellers & believe it or not, it's a 'buyer's market' (has nothing to do with people buying or not buying... it's still a buyer's market which is exactly why you don't wanna sell unless you'd be buying something else, but I guess you're gonna rent in Philly, so yeh don't sell now) ...that's the whole country now of course & even other than this country as well 'cause the smart cats invested in the US economy.
some positive news...
Gas prices might be lower for us in June finally...
"Crude Inventories Rise
10:30 AM ET 4/23/08 | Briefing.com
The major indices catch a modest bid, led by tech stocks (+1.1%). The major indices are trading at their best levels of the session.
After hitting an all-time high of $119.90 per barrel in yesterday's trade, crude oil retreated as the contract switched to June delivery from May delivery. Prices are set to go on the move, as the government's weekly energy report just hit the wires. The Department of Energy said crude stockpiles rose by 2.42 million barrels, which is larger than the expected build of 1.50 million barrels. Just prior to the release, crude was trading down 0.8% to $117.11 per barrel."
If it were closer to Princeton, me and a friend would probably like to take a look at it... sorry. If I hear of someone tho, I'll tell you guys.
i LOVE this verizon commercial
LOL YESSSSSSSS HOCKEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
hahaha that was your dad when all of you were born...except it was in polish.
LOL!
"hockey fans aren't like other fans... they're morons!"
jk
Hahahahah. LOSER! LOSER! BEST BABY IN THE WORLD!!!
Wii's are in stock at Amazon right now.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009VXBAQ/?tag=wii-tracker-20
But they won't be for long.
It cost me $62 to fill up today... Ridiculous...
dude, it is insane. super (which my silly car takes) is $3.68/gallon over here. i'm so glad my wife and i commute together 5 miles each way.
It's good that my car runs on regular, but not good that I commute 52 miles each way! I found a bargain by my house at $3.36 / gallon for regular (guess they didn't hear about May crude oil Futures hitting the record high of nearly $120 / barrel 2 days ago) & it was still $49 to fill my tank which doesn't make me happy about commuting at least at least 2080 miles next month as I've been doing with cheaper gas each and every month and still finding it expensive then.
i don't want to even look at the receipts anymore. i'll just deal with it when i reconcile. it's a freaking disaster. i have a 6 cylinder sedan and it just ran me 45 bucks to fill it up.
lol i'm flaberghasted, my car just died in the wawa parking lot
does anyone know anything about cars?? i drove to wawa, went in to get a salad, came out, and my car is dead
i had to walk home haha.. it's dead, like nothing happens when i turn the key, except all the lights light up on the dashboard and click maniacally
also when I try to lock/unlock the car, nothing happens, and when I press lock/unlock on the alarm clicker thingie it just clicks maniacally
What is going on?? did i do something?
Yep, sounds like you have an ALMOST dead battery.
if you get it charged soon and drive aroudn a while you'll be OK
(note - i know this because a few weeks ago I was working on my car - setting up a new ipod interface. i left the headlights on by accident while i was working on it and an hour later got the clicking noise. called my mechanic, the famous chris doumas - in a panic, and he said just jump it and don't worry.)
oh really? Yeah i checked under the hood and there is pink liquid "leaking out" around the battery connections
FUN!
haha at least i live walking distance to wawa
now that i think about it, when i took the car out for an errand earlier today, my trunk was not fully closed
so, the trunk was probably not fully closed since yesterday
and the trunk light was probably on
ergo - dead batt
OH and by the way, just to paint the entire picture in all of your minds, this is another one of those "mayo on the sneakers" type situations
i decided to take my dog with me to Wawa, becausae he's hyper and he likes car rides - even though it's like 2 seconds away, whatever, soooo i didnt' feel like getting his leash so i just walked him out to the car holding his collar, he hopped in, got all excited to be able to stick his head out a car window for 2 seconds, blah blah, i went in to wawa, i was there for like 2 minutes TOPS and came back out, car is dead
annnd so i'm like.. okay.. i have to get the dog out of this car, it's stinkin hot in here, but I have no leash, aaahhh what am i gonna doooo
soooo one of Chris' belts happens to be in the trunk so I had to use a BELT to walk my dog home - and i live within walking distance from Wawa but it's kind of like walking through the woods ... and i'm wearing flip flops... soooo here I am.. walking my dog home.. in flip flops.. through woods.. on a BELT... my feet getting caught on random crap and i stepped in something WET also... and also carrying a Wawa bag with my salad because I was starving.. and the dog was pulling me like crazy because it wasn't his pinch collar.. oooyyyyy
yeah i laughed a little during this journey
this is a very funny picture. hahahaha.
a battery issue or perhaps the alternator.
what? new goldfinger came out yesterday and i didn't get it!?! how did this oversight happen??!?!
when the new jack's mannequin comes out this will NOT happen, i will set up a reminder on my ceiling!
I know! i didn't get it yesterday either, cuz i had to rush home from work and start cooking cuz i was having people over. I was bummed. I think it's the first time i've missed a GF release day.
did you listen to it yet initial reaction is ... better than the last one, but not as good as the old ones.
remember when goldfinger music was fun, and not about killing animals? Man, give me some meat and some fun music.
HAHA! yea, they've def gotten more serious in their old age. I havnt listened to it yet.
aren't you a vegan? you are a sorry excuse for a meat eating human.

I want this dog
so guess who's having the worst week ever???
Lauren.
I cracked the window in our bedroom - we have an air conditioner in there, so we can't open the window, but I slid back the mount that holds it in, to get some air. Yesterday morning, our cat wormed his way through it and got out, and jumped down to the ground and got away (we live on the 2nd floor).
Lauren's been crying ever since, and we have both looked over so much of our complex. I started searching at 7:15AM yesterday (when we realized he was missing) - went to work at 9:30 (late), got home at 5, looked until 6:30, ate in 5 mins, went back out and looked until 8 when I went to buy flashlights, and looked until 9:30 - then I went out at 10 just to have another look. Then I got up at 5:30AM and looked until 6:45. No sign of this cat. Lauren made flyers, went to the animal shelter, I called all the vets in the area. No one's seen anything. All the neighborhood strays know me now though, they walk right up to me.
And ... yes, I'm in the doghouse.
you sure he's not in some closet sleeping among shoes or anything? My cat used to do that all the time. :( sorry to hear this :(
cats find their way back home. my friends cat was missing for a week and one morning (a week after it got out), bam, there it was on the porch taking a nap. and she lives in vegas where there are coyotes all around....im sure the cat will show up soon!!!
that would be great. thank you. i don't care when he comes back, as long as it's soon.
My dad and I have noticed a lot of coyote poop in the woods while we've been hunting this week. We've also noticed a lack of turkeys. So we're assuming the coyotes are cutting down their numbers. I'm sure a cat would be very tempting. Hope you find it before they do.
that is NOT encouraging.
Sorry. I'm a meany I guess.
there's a good chance this cat was promiscuous and has contracted FIV.
Oh gosh, i'm sorry to hear this. :( this happend to us like 2 years ago. We were looking everywhere. I started going house to house asking people if they saw her. And it turns out one of my neighbors had taken her in overnight because it was like in January. I had her vet's id tag on her, but after that i put our home address on her tag, and got her micro-chipped.
I'm sure your kitty will find her way back home. Remember the movie homeward bound?? They found their way home! :)
what about the part where the dogs were talking and stuff? if they were so smart they would have gotten on the horn and called a cab.
i gotta admit, it feels strange, but we've actually been praying for Target's return!
It was a sad day for me Tuesday of this week.
I no longer have my Jeep. :(
I had to give it up to get a vehicle that fits the entire family and the dogs.
I really loved my jeep. :(
what's the new car?
and what entire family? do you have kids?
oh snap, that's right, you guys don't know that reaf popped out a little reaferoni??
she finally had a baby? or another dog?
she has two doggies and a bambino
awwww. how old is the baby?
i think a better question is - how good is the baby at spelling?
Yeah - ha - we both worry about that cause both me and Brandon can't spell
He will be 1 month tomorrow.
congrats! what's his name?
That is him at 3 weeks.
That's jaws making sure grandma is doing a good job.
Woops Sorry this is the Jaws and Grandma one
Who's the tattoo artist? LOL!
That's a picture of her husband Brandon you dope
Wow... I'm amazed that you could be snippy like that. Koodos to Mr. Thermin.
Oh , if that is offensive to anyone you guys can take it off. sorry
No. It's ok. I know people who got tattoos before coming into the truth.
i know tons of people who got tattoos while in the truth. i'm getting one.
if that's offensive to anyone ... pfffffft
Wow... Ok...
ha.ha-I'm just not out to offend people purposely. Some people are very offended by tattoos, so I'd rather say it than someone be all offended by it. I personally love Tattoos and wish it wasn't such an issue. Some of them are really amazing pieces of art.
yeah i definitely wanted to start a small riot on here, sometimes, i do that, haha, i get bored
yeah i love tattoos
ha ha ha
im not offended...im going with you!!!! woooot
awwww how cute! congrats!!!
Thanks Guys! I never really actually saw myself being a mom. But it happens. ha
the pose reminds me of rubber johnny. anyway, cute baby. congrats.
We got an FJ.
It's Funny I just realized yesterday my jeep was a TJ and now I have an FJ. ha I think i subliminally have something for 2 letter vehicles.
The FJ is still a fun vehicle and still an off road vehicle and we will be lifting it so it will still be really fun and fit everyone at the same time. But i just was really attached to my jeep. I never EVER wanted to get rid of it. I think it is the only thing i ever have been attached to.
I love Jeep Wranglers and CJs. Always wanted one.
hmmm... trever keith is playing at maxwell's on saturday. I wonder if it's just him
Look like some positive news for gas prices in June...
"Brazil Oil Finds May End Reliance on Middle East, Zeihan Says
By Joe Carroll
April 24 (Bloomberg) -- Brazil's discoveries of what may be two of the world's three biggest oil finds in the past 30 years could help end the Western Hemisphere's reliance on Middle East crude, Strategic Forecasting Inc. said..."
Ah, yeh, wow oil futures are trading at only $115 and change today.
Well, it's better than $120 at least.
and how long will it take to get at this oil? years.

Oh and we recently got the zapepr collars for our dogs. 1- because jaws watches tv and FREAKS OUT when he sees animals on the tv and when he was a pup we thought it was cute and funny and never stopped it, BAD idea, now it is a huge problem. And then Lola started catching on and now she does it to. So we got the zapper collars because with the 2 of them it is easier to train them with that especially with the baby ESPECIALLY since the collars are controlled by remote. I LOVE IT, it is amazing. I NEVER EVER was about these collars i thought they were mean. but they really are not, and it works like a charm. The one we have does vibrate and zap, so we can either buzz em or zap them. we usually do the buzzer that works. (btw some zapper collars are dangerous) But i mean other than the tv thing the dogs are really good. ha They most likely won't eat anyone.
wait wait...
so i WAS right all the times i said Reaf caught the pregoosssss
MAN...
LOST COMES BACK TONIGHT!!
is it me, or are personal messages not working?

LOL... How did comments that have nothing to do with this thread get attached. I'm reading about Ian and the city and it goes down to a wedding from 2 years ago.

Wow, listen man, can you let me know about the WRX ASAP?

I will slap your face off your face.
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha
don't hate Dan, don't hate :oP
cool pics! todd i love all the thumbs ups
When I think back it just seems so stupid. But I was laughing really hard when I started doing them all, and Brandon said he was cracking up at them, too.
how did the move go ian?
overall, very well. the movers did a great job. but our car battery died that morning, so that turned into a fiasco, as we needed the car like immediately.
we're moved in, and mostly unpacked. just like 2 more boxes to go through. got tv/internet hooked up today.
my commute this morning was 25 minutes. 10 walking, 14 train. SOOO much better than the 2 hours I've been doing for months now.
the place is starting to feel like a home now that we have a lot of stuff in order. i need to figure out where i'll be able to stick my computer. in the old apt, there was a HUGE walk-in closet that I had a corner desk in. no room for that here. i might have to switch to an iMac or something, and figure out a better setup for a desk. We've looked at computer armoires, but they might be too big.
went grocery shopping last night. there's a small grocery right around the corner. a 6-pack of beer was $12 there, minimum. a half-gallon of ice cream was $8. but, everything else seemed average.
and we're playing the parking game. we still have a car, until we can sell it, so i've been driving around for 30-60 minutes trying to find a spot on the street. i found a place on saturday that i could stay in until tuesday morning at 9am. so that's awesome. i hope the car is still there when i go back tonight to move it. haha
come in for a visit!!!
congrats brutha... looks amazing. And ill give you 1 dolla for your car... you pay for shipping out here.
Wow, that's almost only a step right off of my ferry. Weird. I know where that Hall is. It's where the Chinese attend, right? I go to a Hall in Manhattan myself, but not that one. But, we should meet up soon if you're game. I could introduce you to a lot of Witnesses here, so you & Mikayla can make friends fast. I've been wanting to check out that Skyscraper Museum. I've been to the Museum of the Native American. Check that one out. I liked it. It's right in your 'hood. One of my pubs is Ulysses Folk House which is also right by you... on Stone St.
Yeah, we're def close to the staten island ferry!
yeah, it's the KH on Pearl St, in Chinatown. Where do you go in Manhattan? 22nd st or thereabouts?
We haven't been to a meeting yet. This thursday will be our first. I'm sure we'll make friends fast!
We'll def have to hook up soon. Once we're settled, we'll have you over, or check out a museum together!
Gonna send you a PM.
