So, I put in my resume at 4 places in the last 2 days, all of which are ideal jobs. Two of those jobs actually involve the event planning thing, and are what I consider on my way to my "dream job."

Man, I feel like I just stepped back into 1985 - I'm helping out an attorney because his secretary is on vacation, and she types everything in the courier font (which looks like an old school typewriter) and she saves her files not in folders - just the name of the doc in all lowercase with no date and the name in the second or third word. It's almost impossible for me to find where her last doc was saved. I need to stop volunteering.

The worst part about moving away from the only city you've ever known? Finding doctors/dentists/hairdressers to replace the ones you've gone to for years.
I've decided to chop my hair off...and I have to randomly find someone to do it, at a salon I've never been to, by someone I don't know. Scary.

For the next week....Adam got an extra month of coverage when he left his job, so that helped. But we've got about another week to find jobs with coverage, or it's back to serving at a restaurant for me.
yeah, i had this experience too. i've actually kept one of my doctors in NJ (I know it's too far for you to drive back to Ohio)esp after i heard some of the crazy stories about drs around here. I've just had to use the recommendations (and warnings) of friends in the hall. oddly enough, i went to JC Penney Salon to get my hair cut and the woman did a great job both times.
I kept one of my doctors in NJ - it's only an hour drive, though. My rule with salons is to ask for the manager for a cut - if she's really busy, you know it's good. Also, if they offer you wine or tea or other treats when you come in, you can tell they care about their customers.

I'm excited.....tomorrow, I'm taking a "Mental Health Day" with my mother in law and my two sisters in law. We're gonna meet at my mother in law's house in the morning, and sit around and veg all day, talk, watch movies, eat junk food and just take it easy all day. It is SO what I need. And it will be nice to have some girl time with them....everyone should take mental health days, I think.

Man, I'm so distracted at work today. I've got literally three things on my to-do list here, one I can't do today, one is completely irrelevant, and the last is just organizing a file that's so crazy, I don't even want to think about it.
I wish I could just go home and cook all day... I want to make these energy bars I saw on the food channel, with oats and whole wheat flour and dried fruits and nuts; and I just got a new pizza stone, so I want to make french bread and of course, pizza; and I want to make a huge batch of chili, I want to try it with a little bittersweet chocolate and manteca this time. I think I can get manteca (aka lard) at my local grocery, otherwise I might have to venture to the south side of town, where everything is written in spanish and I'm scared to leave my car on the street. AND this deli in Allentown just went under new ownership (I pass it all the time) and although the new name doesn't sound greek, they've got the names of greek foods all over the windows, so I'm excited to stop there. But this 9 to 5 work is getting in the way!
