Gnarls Barkly is a callabo between Danger Mouse [of The Grey Album, a mash up of the Beatles White Album and JayZ's Black album. Danger Mouse did a GREAT album with MF Doom inspired by and showcasing several characters from Adult Swim. I love that album. It's a must-own. He also produced the newest Gorillaz album.] and Cee-Lo [part of a group called the Goodie Mob. They were the first southern type rap I've ever heard. Pretty decent stuff. He also had a solo album with the single Closet Freak (they used the horn part from the Hawaii 5-0 theme song). I love that song so much.] It's a really great callabo and it's an amazing album after a couple listens.

I guess Cee-Lo looks kinda old, but I think he's in his thirties.

i suppose you could confirm everything here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnarls_barkly

Ummm so back a bit on the subject of entertainers/singers that are supposedly involved in 'shady business' and whether rumors are or are not true. What's up with Stevie Knicks???? She's just like THE original GOTH- A- SIZER but, I mean I think she has an amazing voice... I'm just weary to buy her music. Thoughts?

M
monsterEst. 2006 ·

Wow I didn't even know about that...

One of the more persistent rumors which has trailed Nicks through the years is that she is a witch and is heavily involved in Wicca. While she has a love for the mythic (Rhiannon) and gothic, she has never been associated with Wicca nor has she ever called herself a witch. Though her work is copyrighted under the name Welsh Witch Music, that name most likely refers to the origin of the name 'Rhiannon' and probably provides no proof that Nicks, herself, is a witch.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stevie_Nicks

M
monsterEst. 2006 ·

hmm this is a conundrum...

while all things are lawful...

It seems that Stevie is 'known' as a figure of 'funny business'. So if somebody believed that she is and does 'funny' things, you could perhaps disenchant (stumble) them.

Stevie is mentioned in two different episodes of The Simpsons. The first is during a Halloween special in which Mr. Burns comments that Lisa's character possesses "more wicked witchery than Stevie Nicks." The second is when Homer takes out a list of "Things to do in life"; at the bottom of the list is the phrase "See Stevie Nicks naked." It is checked off three times.

so, while I own a few fleetwood mac tracks and a couple off of bella donna... now perhaps I would be careful who I played them around, plus I am going to examine the lyrics.

YMMV

coreyfeldman coreyfeldmanOG 2003 ·

I don't know if I would use the simpsons as a point of reference.

My best friend swore that clara barton was an ax-murder, because it was on the simpsons.

M
monsterEst. 2006 ·

Exactly my point... lowest common denominator, this is a pop culture reference. What the lay person might, or does, believe?

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001 ·

I think the simpsons are more a satire of what people believe.

I like Led Zeppelin, even though a lot of people think they're both on the wicked side, I know the music doensn't really suggest that. Fleetwood Mac is so mellow and they lyrics are so fantasy-like; it's like saying Puff the Magic Dragon is about pot and therefore condeming Peter, Paul & Mary.

It's not like you're listening to the stuff out in service and could stumble anyone - you just need to do what your conscience tells you.

specialk specialkOG 2003 ·

So we're all moved in, and things are mostly organized. My stress level is way high, but other than that, I'm fine, I think.

So, how long is long enough, when following up on a job interview? I had one last Wednesday, and they said they had a few more people to interview, and to give them a couple of days....obviously it's only been 5 business days, but it feels like an eternity for me, because I REALLY want this job. Plus, if I call to find out, I have no idea what to say to them.

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001 ·

I've always sent thank you cards to the person I interviewed with either the day of or the next day. It keeps your name on their mind and makes you seem thoughtful. Just don't suck up and send a fruit basket or anything. I did a second interview once and the card was actually on the person's desk.

M
monsterEst. 2006 ·

Remember how I was saying that I feel like Donovan and I are the go-to people when there's a sub talk to be given? Last night's meeting was a perfect example.

Donovan knew he had the #1, no big deal. I felt crappy all day, so I didn't even want to go to the meeting, but I decided to take my own car so I could hear his talk and leave afterward.

When I walked in, the school overseer asked if I'd be willing to do a sub talk; the sister hadn't showed yet. I said any other night I would, but my head was killing me and I just didn't want to get up on stage. He said he understood and went into the library to start preparing it himself.

Then Donovan looked at the schedule, which had just been posted on the board about 5 minutes prior, and saw that he had announcments, which included a demo and reviewing the article in the KM about the assembly. So he starts stressing. I agree to do the demo for him with another girl (who was awesome!) and we all step into the library to start preparing. The other sister and I are now back there with the school overseer, and he politely pleads with us to do the sub talk. Ok, we say. So we put the demo on hold and start prepping the talk. After about 5 minutes, we've got a basic outline. At this point, I missed Donovan's talk, which is the only reason I came. :(

Then the brother walks in and says the sister is there to give the talk after all. Phew. So we start prepping the demo. We practice and are prepared. I step back into the hall at the end of the #4 talk and realize I've missed the entire school. Oh well.

We did the demo and I took my seat for a moment, before grabbing my purse and slinking home to my tylenol pm utopia.

originalsnob originalsnobOG 2004 ·

So because I'm a huge dork and I'm ALWAYS @ the library...lastnight I borrowed 'Rebel Without a Cause' and spent the whole movie swooning over James Dean. It wasn't because James was so handsome but, because he had this sweet vulnerability about him as (Jim Stark). Somehow, I think that the same gentle character was a part of the "real" Jimmy Dean =)

Maybe I'm just a hopeless romantic, which is news to me but, they showed extra footage before the movie an interview, a few screen test of just people interacting/meeting with James Dean...I was sooo impressed ;)

This is one of my favorite songs on the album and this is the best video I've seen in years. It's like Westworld/Wu-Tang/Mad Max/Good, Bad and the Ugly/Battlestar Galactica/Dark Tower. I'm completely floored. The song REALLY kicks in at 4:16. Completely amazing. I love it. Thanks, Sai Eeyen.

So I have this friend who's just hilarious. Last week he told me to leave my hair wrapped up in bobby pins cause "It looks cool", so I had asked "You mean for the meeting?", and he said yeah. Next day is Sunday I'm @ my aunts on my way to the meeting, so she says to me "What are you going to do with your hair?" I told her how I was going to leave it and she flipped out LOL!
So I took it down and curled it, went to the meeting, strangled my friend...guys know nothing about hair!LOL!

I think Ian needs to institute electric shock therapy with you.

I'd like to know what exactly happens during a ban...no I'm not actually asking, nor do I desire/deserve to be banned but, I am curious. I mean, can you still lurk and read etc.?

iwz iwz ·

i can arrange something...

I stashed ketchup in the fridge here at work specifically for when I get fries from the diner up the street. I'm now enjoying fries, but no ketchup. These people are so condiment-inconsiderate.

I'm thinking of the line Marty McFly uttered as Doc Brown got shot by the Lybians. haha...

OK, so we have been having this problem with people coming into the office and using our bathroom and leaving it a mess(i.e. - not flushing, poop on the seat, pee on the floor, etc) So I'm sick and tired of it. So a guy with gimpy arms just came in and asked to use our restroom, and I told him, "I'm sorry, we don't have a public restroom, it's only for patients" and he looked like he was ready to cry. So now I feel bad. I'm sorry, cleaning up poop isn't in my job description you know.
