He was 83, so it wasn't completely unexpected, but my dad just called to say he was going into the hospital yesterday, then he passed away this morning. It was quick. Serious bummer.

He'd been at that point where various problems made one compound problem for a few years, but no particular illness. The doctors think he had a stroke this weekend, and that was probably the actual cause. Death is just so horrible and unnatural.

So in the back seat of my car I have two novelty pillows, one is like a giant hot dog the other is French fries...EVERYONE luvs "my kids" lol!
Anywayze I'm talking to these two sisters and I was asking what other way can you say hot dog. I mean, perro caliente just doesn't do it for me that would literally be referring to a hot dog(like an actual pet).
As we're walking from the car this sister suddenly says in Spanish "Well no, I know him and he's not like that." So I turn and look at her like What on earth? and she stops and looks at me to.
Fortunately, an older sister was also present so she intervened.
In Spanish the sister says "Both of you hold on. What are you talking about (me)? AND What are you talking about (the other sister)?"
Turns out that over the traffic the other sister couldn't hear me completely and thought I was referring to an actual person as a 'HOT DOG' or a dog in heat LOL!
I couldn't stop laughing. Neither of us was saying what the other thought or had the same perception as the other. We just had to state things the way we both understood them (complete opposites) and start from scratch.
Had a really good laugh =P

what was with that jerk on the ducks cross checking the crap out of that one guy like 6 thousand times? i lost a lot of respect for the ducks after that. that guy should be suspended.
that my man is called a "defenseman" its all part of the game. the more checks, hits etc the defense gives to the opposing forwards the better. it tires the opposing team and you have better chances of scoring.
also, the senators were taking WAY too many cheap shots also, but the ducks would get called on the retaliation. not good.

so i've been having the most stressful week...my good friend linda (some of you met her, she was with me when i was in NYC)had surgery on tuesday, lost a LOT (gallon & a half) of blood. they wanted to give her a blood transfusion but she was coherent enough to deny the transfusion and she has her power of attorney. which is good BUT she's still not doing well. Its so scary and sad to see your friend in that position.
on a good note, the liason committee is working w/her dr's for "bloodless" alternatives. so we'll see today how well that is going.
Wow! Didn't think the body had that much. Hope she pulls thru. My dad just had his knee replaced and lost a lot of blood. It took him a week to become with it again. His hemoglobin was down to 6.
*thanks* her count was down to 2; she was almost dead...the worst part, she's anemic so thats like a double whammy there.

What we can take from this, is that the standard they go by of 10, is ridiculous. Your friend being at 2 shows the body can withstand so much more. What did she have done? Was it some kind of heart surgery?
she had gastric bypass a year ago and as a result she needed a little nip and tuck here and there (that wouldn't work w/exercise alone) so she had some surgery and thats when everything went awry.

thanks so much hun and yeah its def been stressful for all of us (her familia and friends) and the hospital she was at didnt want to work with her w/o giving blood so they transferred her to another hospital here in anaheim hills (thats affiliated w/her insurance) and that deals w/blood alternates. so the liason worked w/the drs and are getting her the right treatment and she's doing better.
oh, no! that's terrible. make sure you tell her i said hello! man, i hope she's going to be okay.
welcome back from your trip! and i def will let her know you said to say "hi". it was so hit and miss for a while but she's doing a little better, now she has a "no visitors" policy until her blood count is back to normal. she started doing a little better but was SO overwhelmed by the visits and trying to talk etc that she relapsed. but as of yesterday she's still not talking as much but her blood count is up. so she's def progressing, slowly but surly.
I wish I met her and you but didn't. I hope things turn positive.

They're just playing weird stuff. I heard about it, so I tuned in. It's like half static, half random clips from songs or news or tv shows or video games.
usually when the radio station has been bought and changes formats that happens for a day or 2 until the switch is complete. its happened to some stations here.

whats so frustrating is once stern left 92.3 became unlistenable. Theres NO good morning show anymore...and rocks dead. During the day 104.3 is pretty good but gets cheezy sometimes and 106.3 is great but i dont always get it b/c we live a little too north.
i was flipping stations and heard the mess they were broadcasting, as if they havent lost enough listeners, this didn't help. I still don't understand how the biggest city in the world has no rock stations.

i've heard of joey cape's other band bad astronaut... that's pretty cool. he doesn't have the greatest voice, but he writes cool songs and it fits with him style of music (i mean lagwagon). i haven't really liked the softer stuff i've heard of his, but i'll check it out anyway
I really like Joey Cape's voice. It's one of my favorite parts of Lagwagon.
The track I head was "Good Morning Night", and it was pretty good, I liked it.
