Ubik I thought was cool. If you plan on reading something else of his, give that one a try. His short stories are awesome, but I'm such a fan of short-story science fiction in general.

I've read maybe 5 PKD novels and a colection of his short stories (including Minority Report), but I've never read this one. It seems the obvious one, but I must have skipped it, gonna add it to my...

PKD - great author. wacky. obsessed with mars and foretelling the future.

yeah, I just got a test working for JMeter in like two minutes. that's pretty cool. You don't 'have' to write a test for every single method and jsp if you use JUnit. Thing is, I need somet...

that looks like a little kidney or a microscopic map of Africa.

I hear you. you've probably got much better perspective on this than I do, being you've actually used .NET, and I assume at least looked into Mono.

Oct 29, 2004

I do see your point about C# and the CLI being an ECMA standard, I guess that would keep Mono safe.

Oct 29, 2004

yeah, they give .NET away for free, understood, but only for Windows platforms. -You still need to buy Windows to use Microsoft .NET. They have not released Microsoft .NET runtime or developer too...

Oct 29, 2004

mm. have to politely disagree. If MS *wanted* .NET to run on everything (like Java), then they would have ported .NET to linux themselves, and distributed it as Sun distributes the JVM (which is cl...

well, in the version I have, from the pictures, you can't tell they're black. I'll have to go back and re-read the descriptions. according to that article you posted, the text was revised.

first movie had a lot of differences from the book. (I just recently re-read it thanks to forreste!) For one, I think only the oompa-loompas sing, and they aren't those sad green-and-orange litt...

heheh. yeah, I'm just a java dork. haven't written code in C since college.

wxwindows is what the original Bittorrent client was written in, and I've installed a couple apps written in gtk+ on my windows machine (the Gimp). I hear its good stuff.

mono is def. cool tech, but if I programmed in it, I would shudder to think that microsoft might do something legally down the road, and then you'd be in trouble.

no it was poetic justice, the bully who tried starting the fight had a cast on his hand for months.

Oct 27, 2004

haha. this reminds me of this time in H.S. when this dumb jock went over to the lunch table of this beefy nerd, and demanded a fight (just being a bully/jerk). the nerd said no and just continued e...

ok, I did the math and got pretty close to what you got.

Oct 26, 2004

I'm not gonna do the math, but thats probably about right. you got the concepts right (after firguring out that when you go from really fast to 0, you are accelerating negatively (decelerating)) an...
