I'd also offer this tip to you...(and I admittedly would like to live by this better).. you may not be able to find a similar job to before, and i.e.: not as "glamourous" and whatnot...if you catch my drift. Getting employment again could mean taking, like a (for lack of better expression) 'lower on the food chain' position that is less paying. There's nothing wrong with it. Work is work. A job is a job. Take something that pays the bills..which is not necessarily a 'career' with the bells and whistles. (The western countries seem to put so much emphasis on job positions! I was watching a certain program and it showed that in India, a call centre job is pretty high up there, in contrast to how that same job is looked down upon in the States) The only job that matters is worshiping Jehovah and furthering the Kingdom News. And he'll never lay us off. (Only put us on probation if we do something to dishonour him..and then He gives us the opportunity to repent and report back to "work".. No better employer in the World!)
By the way, I've decided that I'm moving out of the country this year, to live off of about 30 hour work week and hopefully like a $550 a month apartment. haha Which is not a drastic change maybe.. but, I reckon still in the realm of living simply. Perfect time for me to do it, 'cause the apartment lease is coming up for renewal in September (probably with an increase in rent) and my unemployment looks like it'll be gone in September. So hopefully, I can make this next move happen and work out.

Ah, nothing lasts forever in this system. We're all short timers.
I've been out of work since late January. Got me a bit frantic in the beginning.. but after a couple months, I've learned to not let it eat at me. I know I won't go homeless or hungry. ..so knowing that, I'm not stressed about it... and it feels good. Just trust in Jehovah. Don't let a job loss takeover your life with needless worry. I can honestly say, I don't have a worry about it these days.
Well... Job loss isn't the only thing I lost. But that's life. Life in this system is like a 15 round boxing match. Gotta roll with the punches and hope you score enough points by the end of the match.
But, hopefully by scoring enough point by the end of the match, you mean in the spiritual sense. "He who dies with the most toys, still dies." - One of my favourite quotes, and it's only from a No Fear tshirt (remember those?)..but so so profound and true.

does anybody know of any good free print management software that integrates with active directory? the college i work for wants to set limits on how many pages per semester that students are allowed to print to certain printers. We've used print manager plus in the past, but it's kind of expensive and there has to be something free out there that works for what we need.
I think by definition anything that integrates with Active Directory is going to cost you lots and lots of cold hard green cash moneys.

OK, i'm going to post this here. I've had this idea for a while but I'm sick of working for the man.
We need to open a business selling concert tickets and sporting event tickets on stubhub. We just monitor forums for bands, find out how to join the member clubs or whatever's necessary to get excellent presale tickets, put everything on an AMEX, then sell the tickets on Stubhub for a ridiculous profit.
We can focus on bands that old people (with money) like, such as Bon Jovi or Barbara Streisand or Barry Manilow or some crap like that. We can make a killing.
I need someone to work with me on this project. Submit ideas. Let's get this going.
Why limit yourself to stubhub? You get stuck paying 15% fees as a seller. :( eBay and Craiglist would be good outlets too.
I've thought about a similar business every time I get stuck trying to find tickets for a sold out show. The markups are always at least 100%.
One problem is ticketmaster fees. It would be great if you could have someone in the city actually go and buy tickets at the box office for shows to save money.
Of course, there are already lots of companies that do this. You see them on Craiglist all the time. So you'd have to be competitive. And make sure the tickets you buy are actually going to sell for a profit. One way, like you said, is to do huge older bands like that. But I think you can also making a killing on smaller bands at smaller sold out venues. It can be hard to predict what shows will sell out, though...
I might be willing to try it on a coupla shows, and see how we do. Could be fun.

AMEX customers get ticket sales perks through Ticketmaster for many shows. For example, ability to buy during presale or maybe better seating too (well, I guess those 2 go hand in hand...if you can buy during presale, you'll be getting better seats than if you had to wait for the general sale).

A good way is waiting to see if their show sells out... then see if a 2nd show is added. Since the first sold-out, the 2nd will probably sell out too. I have a friend that was doing this awhile ago, and me being out of work now I've been thinking of trying to do this. Plus, living in NYC makes it very possible.

So Ian, when you call out, what number is displayed?
If I call through Google Voice, it's 973-233-4763. You can do that a few different ways:
1. Initiate the call from the Google Voice website. They dial out as you, and connect you.
2. Call your Google number from any of your phones, press 2, and dial the number. (this can easily be programmed into a contact with pauses)
3. The coolest way: Assign a virtual number in the 406 area code. Google has a bunch of numbers in 406, and they assign a unique number for each of your contacts. If you call that number, it comes from your Google Voice number. To get the virtual number for each of your contacts, as of now, they have to send an SMS message to your Google number. The SMS comes from the 406 area code, and if you reply or call back it will always call the same person.
It's pretty sweet!

wow. each of those seems kind of complicated (and I normally like complicated). But getting new phone numbers for all my friends/family in the 406 area code would be difficult, and dialing google then dialing the number i want to call sounds extremely difficult when not in front of pen and paper.
you automatically get the 406 number when they text you. like since you texted me earlier, i updated my cell phone's contact for you with the new 406 number google assigned. now whenever i call or text you, i'll use that number and it'll go through google. i think they may make this process a little easier in the near future. (like not requiring the text message to get the 406 number assigned)

I bought a Bluetooth adapter about 6 months ago for use at the gym ... it's been well worth the money, I just leave my iPod on the treadmill and don't worry about it getting yanked off at all.

Wondering if anyone is having similar issues with Gmail. I'm not overly concerned with bouncing out of gchat/AIM, it happens. On the mail side of functions, messages from regular contacts are going into spam, which I rarely check. Is it my settings?
I went through my spam folder and marked all real emails as Not Spam, and that helped a lot.

A mistake was made in my work history for my unemployment claim. My first check was the amount of what I made when I was working. I spent 2 whole afternoons back to back trying to get to speak to a live person on the phone at unemployment. Then, when I explained the mistake they made (which was a reallllly realllly weird one) to a worker there, she said to fax a cover letter explaining the situation along with a W2 prove that I only worked at one of the 3 places they had on record for me, for some reason..who knows.
I finally get a call back from unemployment on the following Monday, confirming the receipt of the fax and further explanation from me I guess.
Finally! It was corrected.
So, now my claim checks (which are issued every 2 weeks) have been reduced by about $100 each week. So, basically, I'll be getting $400 less per month. Eeeek! Have to honest tho. We're Christian. Even if it means barely being able to get by on the lower income.
(I wasn't even commended by the lady at unemployment on my honesty tho. Believe that? hahaha Oh well, Jehovah is pleased, and that's plenty more important.)

Ouch! That's a serious slice of the cheese. Unempolyment has been very inconsistent. First, my initial claim months back was denied now SUDDENLY they want me to appeal. I don't know whether appealing my claim at this point will make any difference but supposedly, I may receive retroactive pay. I won't hold my breath.

The funniest thing happened this morning.
I've got one day 'til rehearsal and two days 'til THE BIG DAY. I'm still a lil under the weather but WAY by far better this week. In any case I slept in today.
Five seconds after I emerged from my sanctuary the funky door bell rang...it sounds like a fat man's fart just fyi. SO I wrapped up and tiptoed downstairs. I caught friends from my hall walking away and I called them back. Turns out they're working my complex. In the midst of convo I find out that like NO ONE knows where I live AND they think I'm some queen descending from the mountains of Boonton LOL!
Even more strangely I had a BBQ last summer, I ALWAYS have "bonding nights", AND all my elders and service buddies know where I live so guess I just figured everyone else did to. I just HAD TO LAUGH...and then call my sister. Funny stuff.

My friend's wedding. I feel like I've babbled about it on here before.
Since my friend didn't have a professional photographer, I tried to take some decent shots. I hope to surprise her with a semi-formal album.
**I REALLY would appreciate some feedback because I'm trying to nix the shots that I used heavy filters on or came out blurry. I am very far from a professional, just trying to do something nice.

I like the 2nd one. The first is too hard to tell what's going on. And the third is too overexposed.
