hey does anyone have a good recipe for meat loaf?

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

i thought i'd made this up myself, but i checked and it's all over the net... but not quite like mine! HA!

teryaki meatloaf!

ground beef, pretty lean

egg, crushes crackers, chopped pineapple, colored peppers, onions, garlic chopped chunky

teryaki marinade, cheap crap. i use this:

http://www.amazon.com/World-Harb-Teriyaki-Ounce-Bottle/dp/B000HZIJD8

goop the marinade all over top, as well, to make a seal

cook it!

additions: i wanna try some ginger next time, that can't hurt

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001 ·

My sister-in-law made a meatloaf that I really liked:

She sauteed finely chopped onions, carrots, celery and garlic until soft (they were super small). Let that mixture cool. Combine a little parm cheese, rehydrated porcini mushrooms, 1 egg, parsley, Worcestershire and grey poupon. Add the onion mixture and combine well. Combine that mixture with your beef/pork with your hands and form it into a log on a sheet pan. My sister topped it with ketchup, I might use tomato sauce, but that's up to you, just top it with something. Bake for like 30 minutes at 350.

hi

The short answer... cancer, death, (touch of depression) etc.

I need a distraction that will keep my mind off all the heinous stuff. I need fluff right now.

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001 ·

How about this anecdote:

Our bookstudy had hospitality this afternoon, and since we have bethelites in the cong, they often stop by for food on their way back to bethel (because they've missed dinner by the time they get home).

So we had a really nice time; just about everyone showed up at 3:30 or so, and we ate, drank and were merry. We were expecting one of the bethelite couples to stop by, and at about 6, they finally did.

The sister walked in and said hello to everyone, and one of the other sisters commented on the fact that her hair was messy and actually had some twigs in it. She said, "What were you and Tom doing before you came here? Were you rolling around together somewhere?"

Everyone burst out laughing (I love that this hall isn't easily offended). And the bethelite sister said back, "I don't have time for that kind of stuff - I'm way too old!" Uproarious laughter.

iwz iwz ·

I'm sorry to hear that :(

hey man, it's good to see you on here! sorry you've been dealing with some stuff

flomojopoanode flomojopoanodeFounder ·

ugh, I feel your pain, I've had some rough times lately (within the last 6 months). You'll be in my prayers. Just stick close to your brothers. Be where they are, against all your natural inclinations. You are loved by your brothers, and more importantly by Jehovah. He knows what you're going through better than any of us. Rely on him.

(usually you know all the things I've mentioned above, but it's always reassuring to hear them from someone else. Hang in there. Don't let Satan keep you down.)

i almost died laughing when reading this:

Jersey Shore: The Poor Man's Vacation Destination

The Jersey Shore has actual sand and a real ocean, just like every other vacation destination. But, its sand and ocean just happen to be—unlike other "good" destinations—littered with syringes and Red Bull cans. At normal beaches, if you wait long enough, you may catch a glimpse of a dolphin, majestically leaping out of the ocean. In New Jersey, you are guaranteed to see no less than two fights, enough Gotti-wannabe’s to stage an all-guido remake of 300, and an assortment of less-than-stellar sandcastles that are really more cigarette butt than sand.

The ludicrously high number of syringes would lead one to sensibly conclude that every male on the Jersey Shore is either on steroids (presumably because they wanted to get their money's worth on the "$50-per-each-additional inch of barbed wire tattoo" deal at the parlor on the boardwalk) or heroin (presumably because they like heroin).

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder ·

i wonder what beach they're talking about. i've seen dolphins in wildwood before, and i saw a seal at island beach state park last year. "the jersey shore" is a pretty big generalization. maybe they're talking about seaside

THE ORANGE COUNTY GREAT PARK PLAN WILL TRANSFORM THE FORMER MARINE CORPS AIR STATION EL TORO INTO AMERICA'S LARGEST METROPOLITAN PARK.

In 1993, the federal government told The Marine Corps to abandon the El Toro Airbase. Residents of Orange County, California, have been debating about future use of the crisscrossing runways and the valuable surrounding open space. Many residents wanted to see a commercial airport at El Toro. After several ballot initiatives and lawsuits it was decided that the former El Toro Airbase be converted to America's largest public Open Space: The Great Park. Larger than Central Park, NYC and Golden Gate Park, SF put together, this tranistional space brings much debate to this county. Located in the middle of America's 3rd most densely populated county, the Park will connect with forests and open space to the north and south making it possible to hike all the way from the beach to the mountains through a continuous corridor of green.

iwz iwz ·

I think brotherman just might have a heart attack when he reads this.

man, it totally pays to complain. this past weekend in DC we stayed at this hotel called L'Enfant Plaza Hotel. It was a 4 star hotel that we got a good deal on from Travelzoo. $109/night.

so there were all these little issues, like we got two doubles beds instead of a king bed, the tub was clogged, random stuff.

so i wrote a stern email and we got two nights free in a better room! woohoo!

(I really liked the location of the hotel because the metro was right below us so we didn't have to drive anywhere, so that's why i requested a free stay rather than a refund)

Some things learned while in Kentucky:

- The food is horrendous
- Even if you have Analog phone service, you still cant send text messages
- People who live in trailers even think they need to simplify their life
- The Baptist and the Pentecostals will test your Bible knowledge
- People actually stand by the long conclusion in Mark 16 for a basis for their faith
- If you dont have an SUV you cant reach some of the houses/trailers
- Old tires make great flower pots in the front lawn
- They are in absolutely no rush, so you can stay at the door for hours
- When driving off on one of the dirt side roads, you may just end up in a marijuana plantation, at which point you turn the vehicle around and get out of there before you get shot
- Yes even the 12 year old sons have rifles that they play with
- When having a pet wolf, make sure it is chained up because it will kill everything
- The highest paid jobs are coal miners at a whopping $25 an hour
- Walmart is open 24/7 and it is the social life after 9pm
- The locals dont know how beautiful a golf course they have down there
- Rattlesnakes and Copperheads are poisonous and are in the high grass
- You will eventually begin your presentation with "How Y'All doin round here??" and than say to yourself, did I just speak like a southerner??
- Sonic shakes ARE good
- The Cumberland Gap is beautiful
- You begin to value every single tooth in your mouth
- I cant believe they still have a dry county
- Even the most unlivable trailers will have a satellite dish hooked up to it

- I love NJ

Co-signing East LA! Delish, great dishes, margaritas, atmosphere.

Also Buskers Bar and Grill. Went there Friday with my lil mom. Great pasta dishes. I had the fish and chips with a Smithwicks & Guiness black and tan. I just sat there and shook my head... at how good it was. Nice dark, woody, irishy atmosphere.

Sooooo, me & Austin went to DC this weekend. My mom informed me that they took us there when i was like 10, but i don't have much memory of it. But it was awesome! We did a lot.

Hung out at Federal Triangle the first night, dinner, drinks. Saturday-saw all the major monuments-Lincoln Memorial (most impressive) Washington Monument, WWII memorial, White House, Capital Building, etc.

After we went to the International Spy Museaum. It was really cool & interactive. When you entered you were assigned a cover that you had to stick by. And it showed all the neat spy gadgets and stuff.

We went to dinner at a French restaurant in Georgetown and then to a piano bar for drinks where everyone was belting out Billy Joel tunes. Fun times.

Sunday, woke up late then went to the Holocaust Museaum. It was pretty heart wrenching, but I shouldnt have dreaded it the way I did.

It was weird in the museaum shop they had all this Purple Triangle Memorabilia and stuff that said "Jehovah's Witnesses" on it.

I think the write ups they have on JW's must be really interesting for people because it is not really well known. They kept making mention to the fact that JW's were voluntary priosoners. Isn't that so crazy and faith strengthening? After you read about and see all the atrocities that took place at these concentration camps and to know our brothers could have left by renouncing their faith, and only a very small number did. wow. Only true faith can get you through that.

Anyways, fun weekend overall. And DC is only 90 minutes from our house! Cool stuff. Oh, and the metro system is great and really easy to use to get around. Driving was a little bit difficult.

I know this was really long. Sorry.
